Sarita's outburst

She has put across her view there is no point of overdoing it. In a game there can be right or wrong decisions but you can start judging the judges.

she filed a complaint, and judges refused to hear it. The match was all hers, and it was clearly a case of corruption for her to loose. With no one to help, why is she not allowed to break down. She did the right thing. At least the korean boxer will never be happy with such a medal. It is a shame that the judges knew that the whole world watches their decisions, still they have the guts for such blatant wrongdoings. The decision was not a close one that we can consider it as a mistake. It was a clear case of corruption. Sarita did the right thing.

Sports has drmatically changed!
by Darryl Fernandes on Oct 02, 2014 11:02 AM  | Hide replies

In sports or in real life there is always a defender and an attacker. Today the judges use new tactics in the Game. Its not about giant or goliath days. Those days of Hulk Hogan or Darasingh is over where one person dominates the game to take the trophy. Devi on other hand must understand that she could be a defender rather than attacker, since she was more stronger than her opponent the advantage always goes to the weaker side and if the attacker cannot knock out the opponent then the winner is the defender. I am not trying to take sides but sports has dramatically changed in many ways.

You didn't watch the match. You have no clue about the scoring of this match. Still you want to talk. Just because you said "I am not taking side", doesn't make it look like that. You are clearly biased against Sarita. You should free yourself from your political stigmas before you go judging soprts person. Standing in the shoes of Sarita, you would know what kind of hard work and pain goes into training for such a match. She is wife and a mother and comes from a poor agricultural family of a developing country. You have no idea of the amount of sacrifices, devotion , and commitment that goes into being in Sarita's shoes. And when all that goes down the drain because some one bought the medal, it becomes worse. Its not about loosing a match, its about loosing your entire faith in the worth of your life's struggle. Sarita did the right thing

What Sarita Devi has done is absolutely and all Indians must support her in all respects. She has done what any person/sports person with some self respect would do. Bronze is nothing for her because her caliber is Gold. The whole event is obviously videographed & it must be evaluated by an international panel, to confirm that the judges were corrupt. It is not a bad idea even if the whole Indian contingent return all their Medals in strongest protest possible, in any international sports event, whatever be the consequences. India should not take it lying low. We know how much Indian sports person have to toil against the corrupt selectors, worst possible sports facilities, poverty, no nutricious food, no support from Govt and the list goes on. At last when they make it, it is worst crime, losing it to corrupt practices of non Indian judges.

I agree.

The support must be unanimous, unflinching.

It must also come from all quarters: fans, Indian boxing officials, Indian Olympic/Asiad officials, government, politicians, corporate sponsors, fellow-sportspersons, diplomats, and everyone else.

This is a prestigious event. A medal won, is not just an individual's glory, but the nation's too.

A medal robbed, is crime against the nation.

Let them know where we stand on this crime against India.
