Congracts to her, she has made the whole India proud. But lets not forget other athletes from India who have won medals at Asian games. Mary Kom is indeed the pride of India, but its also true that many people came to know about her only after the film, before the film only few knew her. And I am sure most of us don't know or don't remember other athletes who have won medals for India.
Its the duty of Govt to reward Mary Kom and other athletes who have won medals for India. Some funds shall be spent by cash RICH BCCI for development of other sports in India. Government should make it compulsory for the BCCI to spend a part of their income on the development of other sports as well
I don't know how much prize money you'll get but i can tell you for sure no one equals our CM in encouraging sports. Wish you were in our state..I am sure Jayalaitha would have gifted you atleast a Crore as she is the best among all CMs in encouraging sports persons. I am also sure that every penny you get would be well spent in training and developing others. All the best.
Congrats Mary on a great effort to win gold. unfortunately lot of judges are favoring Koreans and Chinese against Indians so we lost some more medals in boxing. Hope India launches a strong protest about this

kieran it appears from your comments that had the judges & refrees been impartial then India would have been in Korea's place or even better in China's place.Don't talk like an idiot, China& Korea won 38 & 13 golds in London 2012 Olympics,& what was India's gold haul.We area nation of cribbers, finding fault with others. The judges were not from Korea,& China, so why will they favour them? In that context, the Refrees/Judges/Umpires favoured us when we hosted the CWG 2010,& Cricket World Cup 2011.

@Jugal, you are completely out of place in saying we got undue favor in CWG and World Cup 2011, as India won convincingly in all those events. and there were no close-fought contest where favor went to India. Unlike, the recent boxing events where Sarita and other boxer clearly gave a better performance but were ruled out of contest. It doesn't matter whether the judges were from korea or not, decisions can be affected otherwise as well. And we are not saying that Korea and China got "all" their medals because of undue advantage. We are only mentioning a couple of bouts in boxing where Indian boxers performed better but lost.

Mr Jugal please watch the semifinal match between Sarita and korean boxer. You will understand what kieran is trying to state. The judges were biased in that match and the scoreline suggests that match result was fixed by judges.
