Just look at the arrogance of Manoj Kumar. Kapil was right in putting the phone down, as any person who is on the list should not call the pannelist.If manoj kumar thought that he is being denied the award, he should have taken legal recourse di rectly instead of calling kapil. Now by insulting kapil dev publicly he is demeaning himself and Kapil dev is maintaining a dignified silence.Just imagine if this guy manoj kumar had won an olympic gold,he would have demanded Bharat Ratna.
Why should a cricketer be on this panel ? Cricket in only played in a handful of countries. Pak, Bdesh, Zimbabwe, West Indies, Kenya, Sri Lanka, New Zealand are miniscule countries and hardly sporting nations of any merit. That leaves only Australia ,England & SA . World Champions in a game played only by 10 nations. Funny.
If he reacts like this, he doesn't deserve any award? What is the point of being personal? When Kapil Dev doesn't know him, obviously the award decision is neutral. The attitude of looking anything that is not favorable for us from conspiracy/political angle is not right.

its a shame kapil dont even know gold medal winner. he dont deserve to be in the panel. Manoj's achievement of winning gold medal in commonwealth is equivalent to kapil's world cup of 8 countries..

Not withstanding his knowledge or otherwise of issues regarding doping etc Kapil could have been little civil in speaking to the aggrieved Sportsman.Itis pity that kapil refused to acnowledge another sportsman from his fraternity. With the award of Arjuna it is a balm onthe bruised Ego of sportsman

Well it is a pity to see so much politics in sports. A person who deserves to be awarded the Arjuna Award needs to fight for it from people who were not even closely related to it. Kapil may be the greatest cricketer but to deny a person of an award is very serious, and that to without a reason that has been proved. Don't know how many of such awards have been forfeited by deserving candidates. I wish that there is more Transparency. Poor people have to fight in courts to get justice for an award!
I fail to understand why sportspersons fight for awards/recognition. Awards/recognition should come based on performance and not through some legal battles or after pulling strings. If there was allegation of doping against manoj, how the selection committee could have recommended his name for award?
