Vishy need to add more drama and aggression in his playing style.Sometimes it does the trick particularly when your opponent is young.

Have faith in Caissa, the goddess in Chess
by Jai Singh on Nov 16, 2014 12:41 AM

Vishy is loosing faith too early in game. Caissa is known to turn the game anytime. So watch carefully each mistake by your opponent and exploit it and that what Magnus does better. Anyway, Anand is not as bad as last year and so I still think Anand will emerge as winner this year.

blunders are unavoidable in chess.. there r psychological reasons for the blunder.. ne5 was not possible a move before.. when Carlsen blunders, Vishy dont expect him to blunder and didnt check ne5 variation and played a5 (move that he planned earlier) quickly.. such things happen all thee time in chess, even at the top level..

The tide is

slowly turning.

In Norway, Carlsens fortunes are followed just as those of any other sportsperson is followed.

The world chess championship is not even in the top 10 in terms press coverage for sports.

By contrast, the Indian media has not stopped gushing about Anand from the moment he arrived in Sochi. They make it look sometimes that Anands victory is a foregone conclusion.

I referred to the Norwegian medias lukewarm approach to Carlsens fortunes in contrast to the Indian medias rush to play down Anands defeats and weaknesses against Carlsen.

As Plato said 2000 years back, intellectuals are always a minority.

Chess is greatly followed among the civilized and educated sections of the world.

Many countries have spent millions on its chess infrastructure and facilities to create a world champion, but failed. During the cold war, soviet union and U.S had many chess duels to prove who had the most intelligent people. The Fischer-Spassky duels were the stuff of legends.

India produced a world champion with nil infrastructure and training facilities. I still consider this as something of a miracle.
