when shows like satyamev jayate talks about sports, media houses write 100s of articles on it... cover the story for weeks.. but, when india's no. 1 sportsperson is playing in the world championship, media is not giving deserving coverage. you can see news channels are not covering this news even in the headlines.. it's media's responsibility to spread awareness abt sports in india.

Anand is not scared of Carlsen. otherwise, he won't have gone for berlin opening. he would have taken Bxf5 instead of Be6.. it's just Carlsen is too strong, young, and his stamina.. age factor is affecting our tiger.. and India is not able to produce another Vishy..

choice of berlin has nothing to do with it, if anything berlin is considered solid and has been employed to draw with black. just that carlsen smashed the berlin with unconventional moves.

rather anand played carelessly...he did not play berlin properly...it was more like philidor defence without the dark squared bishop...

anand was put under pressure pretty early..there is only so much you could do perhaps. probably he didn't play it well as you say, but there were sure some uncommon moves played by carlsen in the position f.ex. Re1..incl. a novelty later ..btw , i wouldn't exchange my light square bishop in the ruy like carlsen did :) the guy is known to disrespect theory and general 'principles'

exchanging the light square bishop in the ruy is not as uncommon as you seem to think....true in most of the variations white reroutes it to b1-g8 diagonal but in 2 variations the exchange is quite common..in exchange lopez, white gives up the light square bishop as a matter of strategy to play against the doubled pawns...and berlin defence is the other variation where the bishop is given for the knight...it is quite common really...u can look up the theory of the rup lopez berlin defence...you will find this exchanging of the bishop for the knight quite often...

im aware of the exchange variation, however i dont play that. i always keep the bishop, also i make c3 early, so as to reroute the bishop to c2 as well. having said that i do not know much ruy theory, nor do i need to know, however i know enough to know carlsen avoided the mainlines, starting with d3. you must know that too...later Re1 comes , then comes the exchange , again a novelty? in the position. soon enough with Ra3, an attack builds up ..and anand cracks eventually. i dont think you can only say anand played poorly etc. , point is how do you prepare against carlsen , who just would play 'anything' , and get you out of the book and your comfort zone?

Aronian once said, he plays the Berlin if he wants to win. we need to understand, Anand is playing in the way he used to play throughout his career.. it's Carlsen who is too strong. I don't think Anand is under any psychological pressure. he might beat Carlsen tomorrow.

yes, carlsen is simply too strong and also much younger and can fight for long...much more stamina than anand...who many times takes early draws...carlsen certainly will play on till the position has nothing to offer...

Yes, wonder how Anand missed Qb7 !!! As a amateur, I could figure out that move while watching it live, but Anand missed it !! may be under pressure , sitting in the hot seat, at times you overlook the basics. Its time for Anand to pull up socks and play like the Anand of 90s.

Good that Anand has lost second game. Now we will see the tiger's claws. Anand has to play like Anand from Monday and attack with full intensity to win rather than try to defend and draw.

Hoping for that.......Anand should come out of his negative mindset first. His body language in the first 2 games sounded more of a loser attitude.

Anand's defeat.
by Sceptic Critic on Nov 10, 2014 02:01 AM  | Hide replies

Anand's defeat was not at all shocking. That was to be expected. Is ability to draw the first game was far more shocking. He is blind to the writing on the wall. His days in the chess world as a "World Champion" are already over. But he is unable to accept the reality with grace.
I expect Carlsen to retain the title in less than 9 games. The first time it took him 10 games.
In the previous tournament, I had correctly predicted Carlsen's victory.

what do you mean by he is unable to accept the reality with grace? he is a fighter.. he is not giving up.. he has earned challenger position by beating worlds top gms. are you expecting him to accept his defeat without playing? do u accept defeat in each phase of life without giving it a fight or challenge..

if you are expecting Carlsen to retain title in less than 9 games that means you are neither patriotic nor you enjoy chess. I enjoy chess and want it to go till tie-breakers.. so that I'll have more chess to enjoy.

Just shows how you dull you are!
FYI, chess prowess declines as one gets older. The fact he is still playing at international final at age 45 is awesome in itself. Chess is played in all nations across the globe, chess by handful loser ex-colonies. CHina, US, USSR, Germany, Japan, France, Spain, Italy, Brazil, etc do not play cricket, but they and rest of the world plays chess. Furthermore, chess is mind game and any loser can play cricket.
