Dubious decision of the referee
by shankar shankar on Jun 30, 2014 11:39 AM  | Hide replies

I certainly blame the match referee
Robben must have caution under simulation action, and his mockery trial was attempted twice in the same match, there by referee could have studied robben intention, a penalty kick also depends on 5D fasctor,D1 distance of the goal,D2 direction of the Goal,D3 distance of the ball D4 direction of the ball and D5 Number of defenders.

You should take Mr Blatter's post if and when he finally decides to step down.

This sort of thing happens in all sports

Even in cricket or tennis errors happenn from umpires and are part of the game...people should follow Sachin to accept all umpiring decisions with humility.

Mexico anyway did not deserve to go through as they played so defensively in 2nd half to protect just 1 goal that they had scored!!!!

Well for one, I am heavily biased against Arjen Robben....however, I think I understand football as I live, breathe and dream football 365 days a year.

Having said that, robben was indeed fouled, not once but atleast twice.

On previous occasion, robben's image preceeded him, hence he did not get the decision, but Marquez' foul was s clear stud up stamping, hence clear foul...To add to it, robben did his bit of theatrics....nonetheless it indedd was a foul and a penalty.

when in fact the defender's foot had touched Robben, he had already lost possession of the ball as it was close to the foot of the other defender...if you see replay you'll understand...so penalty unwarranted.

It was certainly not a foul
by NIRJHAR MAJUMDAR on Jun 30, 2014 10:44 AM  | Hide replies

It was either play-acting by Robben or a mild tackle by Marquez.Penalty should not have been rewarded under any circumstances. The host country wants Netherland to reach the quarters somehow.Being a developing country, it conspired against another developing country. FIFA should look into the matter and if referee is found guilty, there should be a rematch.

Cool it buddy.....whether it was a foul ot not is debatable, but nothing of what you dream will happen.

Btw, the Dutch are a very developed country unlike Brazil who are developing.

As far as Robben goes, he is a play actor, and just because his reputation preceeds him, he did not get 2 penalty shouts previously in this game.

IMO, Marquez challenge was stud on the shoes, and hence warranted a penalty.

However, much I hate Robben, can't deny the fact that he is a good footballer and an even better actor.

Robben robbed the Mexicans of a win. I think Robben must put his hand across his heart and say I DID it on purpose

Robben
by satya saka on Jun 30, 2014 10:36 AM

This was clear diving, the refree was at fault. Infact the dribble near the penalty circle becomes more intense and hence there must be some concession. In this case there was intention of Mexican defender to stop Robben. He just played a fair game. Full points to Mexico. They played like winners, and it was simply unfortunate that they relaxed a bit

In brazil-chile match referee was completely biased

In brazil-chile match referee was completely biased & was awarding all sort of advantage to chile. Hulk goal was a clear one but referee disallowed it.

Robben is a past master at diving
by claudius lazarus on Jun 30, 2014 09:38 AM  | Hide replies

It was a clear case of diving and Robben is a past master at such antics. He does it all the time and sadly his footballing skills are only second to his penalty and free kick earning skills.

Football is a contact sport & these sort of obstructions will take place. In this case there was no pushing or shoving & the defender was doing it legally by putting his leg out to stop Robben. Where was the foul? It was Robben who knocked against the knee of the defender & went down. Very very unfair for Mexico. Would Robben have dived if the ball was in the mid field & would the referee give it as a foul or simply play on. There must be a review system or third umpire in football.
