Good to see that Suarez, after reflection, realized his error. It's praiseworthy that he issued an apology and has pledged not to repeat it. Suarez is a gifted player and fans worldwide are keen to see him in action. But not at the cost of unsportsmanly behavior. Even Zinedine Zidane head-butted Materazzi in the penultimate world cup. But that after his family was incessantly abused during the game. While Zidane could have done with a bit more of composure, and that would have tactically been the right thing to do, Zidane actually grew in my esteem for his action. What Suarez did, though, was completely on the opposite pole, and deserved the condemnation it earned. FIFA did the right thing to ban him right away, since he was a serial offender. In fact, it's distasteful that the Uruguayan President has chosen to speak out against FIFA for what was a completely justified and necessary action.
