THE WC ASPIRANTS NEED MORE CONVINCING WINS!
by damodaran mohan on Jun 29, 2014 03:33 PM

As expected it was a tough match and Brazil just about managed to hang on to the relief of its thousands of fans assembled in the stadium.Brazil winning the penalty shootouts in a way was somewhat of poetic justice having looked better side between the two. Both in defence as well as in attack brazil were comparatively better having had 3-4 times more shots at goal than Chile. Although Neymar had been rendered ineffective in the 2nd half by the Chilean midfield but he did have couple of close shots at the Goal only to be denied by the GK Bravo who was at his best. Brazil too had their share of defence lapses resulting in the equalizer. On the other hand Chile seemed to have the upper hand in the midfield but they lacked penetration and a sharp finish. They would lose possession too often and even the clearances were weak enabling Brazil to mount counter attacks. But on the whole the giant killers Chile showed sufficient grit to hold on and force the play into extra time and penalty kicks. They were a bit unlucky to have denied an outright win in the closing moments with the cross-bar in the end proving to be the real savior from drowning Brazil into mourning. Actually this type of repeated scratchy wins that must be rankling Scolari for a side aspiring to win the WC.

Numbered Days
by ojama on Jun 29, 2014 11:12 AM

With lack lusture performance in League stages and now just having sneaked thru to the quarter finals thru penalty shoot outs, Brazil's further inroads looks doubtful and its days are numbered with every possibilty of being eliminated in Semi final in case they happen to meet any of the European teams like Holland, Germany or France.

the conspiracy by British press kicked out Surez(Uruguay).Even the victim chillini(Italy) said that this is excessive punishment. now British referee didn't allow goal of Brazil.beacuse Surez got best footballer award of EPL 2013. that is why most of the south american rarely play in english premeier league.

Brazil's first goal was due to an inadvertant deflection in the penalty box from a chiliean player. Why then such hype and hoopola around Neymar and his Brazil, except for being a host and getting local support.
