As a woman, I find it sexist that you are all only looking at the body of the air hostess rather than what her function is. Do you always want young and good looking girls as air hostesses? Don't people age? What is the function of an air hostess? It is just not to serve food. She has to close the luggage bins, close doors and do lot of physical work. Legally you cannot discriminate and get rid of air hostess just because they are no longer slim or beautiful, but you can if they are no longer fit. Look at most of the airlines in Europe and US. Their air hostesses are not always young, but they are fit and capable of handling any emergency. Most airlines in India have young air hostesses who are not fit for handling any emergency. Air India is the worst case, but strive for fitness. Not beauty and looks. Does your wife or mother not get old? Are they as fit as they were 20 years ago?

One can ALSO look at it from another angle - SIMPLY as a marketing/Sales gimmick ( or innovation ). How many people in India or around the world knew that there is an Airline called Lucky Airlines in China Everyone knows about China Airlines or Air India or other major Airlines of different countries. If THESE airlines DID THIS, one can accuse them of EXPLOITATION ! Does people all over the world know about our Go Air or Spice jet ?? Definitely NOT. By this gimmick, people all over the world have PROBABLY come to know of LUCKY Airlines. Media like Rediff etc., all over the world might be repeatedly reporting this event. After all, the women staff were not forcibly made to participate . It is evident that they are CO-OPERATING in this World cup carnival , ON THEIR OWN. Have the Airlines NOT GOT that EXTRA mileage at no cost or at a very little cost ? Small skirts mean less cloth needed for stitching World cup Uniforms ?? Right ??

No, safety of the passengers is the main concern of the airhostess. It is only needed in case of an emergency.

Yup; with Air India having a fantasy for buddhi aunties, better they stay in burkha. I'm not saying they should go on Mallya's lines by appointing tarts but there should be some decency at least in selection.

Burkha is best, you can imagine as much as you want, fully left to your own imagination and exposure

Maybe after 5 years you can ask smriti yourself. Once Air India Hostess got stuck between seats and had to be gently removed
This is how ideas are put into for sustaining its operations... our railway and other systems would simply ask for hike every time... they would not try to implement something new like this or use their intelligence for sustaining its operations instead would blame one and sundry but themselves

Thanks goodness when Bhaloo was RM, he did not get the fancy idea of putting a cow in every compartment to provide fresh milk.
