someone in this forum said thar Ramesh Krishnan is the greatest. I heard his father is really a super player- Is it true? He was number one during his days

Krishnan (called Ramanathan Krishnan) is Ramesh's father. He was world no. 3 in 1961-62. There were three great Aussies then - Ken Rosewall, Rod Laver and Roy Emerson. Krishnan was in between them as the world no. 3 and he made it twice to Wimbledon SF in 1961 and 1962 and each time lost to the eventual champion.
Yes, he is 9 times chamion now on Roland Garros...but he is not an attractive proposition in terms of elegance & suaveness... grit & determination personified....may have faked injuries during past losses at other courts....its becoming boring to see French Open these years...its becoming melancholic due to RAFA...anyway congrats clay king...

For your information, he has won 2 Wimbledon, 2 US Open, 1 Australian plus he has made it to the finals of the above mentioned grand slams on other occasions (when he lost) and yet you call him a clay court wonder.

Federer and Djokovic have more titles on hard and grass courts... they have accomplished more than Nadal on these surfaces... Thats why I say Nadal lags behind Fede and Djoko.

Yeah, it should be interesting to see how Rafa performs in the coming grass and hard courts, where Fede and Djoko rule.

Fede hasn't ruled anything anywhere for quite some time now.And Djoko 'rules' grass courts? How do you define that?Coming to hard courts,we all know who ruled the hard court season last year. Some so called experts here had to change their usernames in the process.
Fede has been #1 for 302 weeks and Nadal is just at 138 weeks... Nadal always plays catching game and he will never be able to break the #1 weeks record. Nadal is just a clay court specialist, who happened to win a few GSs outside of it. Still Nadal lags behind Federer and Djokovic at courts other than clay.

I am a big fan of Federer. When he is in full form and flowing its poetry in motion. But he sucks while playing against Rafa. Its a mental block for him. And Rafa, really has a heart. No matter whats the injury or his form he toils hard. Never gives away the matrch. Truly respect him for that. All this #1 ranking. Doesnt really matter. For the Skill, its always Fed, But for the heart its always Rafa.

Nadal has never won the ATP World tour finals, another yardstick for measuring greatness.
Fede has won it 6 times. Nadal can never be called the greatest.

well said. Both of them cannot be called as the Greatest. Ramesh Krishnan is the GREATEST

ATP WTF is just like any other masters series title. Many of them have not been ever won by Federer. So he can never be called the greatest.
Re: Re: Fede is the greatest

Rafa has more ATP Masters than any other player. So what he did not win WTF. He has an Olympic Gold in men's singles, which Federer doesn't have. Plus part of 4 Davis Cup winning teams. Great comeback from major injury twice. Greatness is not measured by rising only but the number of times you rise back each time you fall. Federer is definitely great but Rafa's almost there. He does not have to win another 3 to prove he's equal. Coz even if he does that, you will talk 302 weeks, non-clay court and WTF. You will not consider French to be a major for your convenience!

Federer won just one and Djokovic has not won even one slam on clay.Nadal has won 5 non clay slams. So we can safely assume that Federer is just a hard court specialist who happened to win a few GSs outside of it.

He has been for that many years coz there was no competition besides nadal( from tender age)... he won only for that specific period... Please tell me on whose cost did RF won all the GS... Roddick.. Chang.. old hewitt..nalbadian.. bagdatis... federer is still the same player.. but he is not winning now only because his fake confident shield which was there during the weak era he played has been broken... he knows now that he has to deal with tougher opponents than before... i am a huge rafa fan but even i cannot guarantee him winning all the slams because the competition is so tough.. but still Rafa managed to win 14GS... and you guys know on whose cost he won them all.... vamos Rafa..
