CHINA IS A NATION ON THE ROLL
by Ulhas Kulkarni on Jan 25, 2014 08:59 PM

Performance in sports is an excellent yardstick of how well a Nation is doing. Ridiculed not so long ago, for being weak, they have now bounced back and are doing well in every sphere of life. India should take a cue from them instead of finding excuses for poor performance.

Aam Aadmi Wants
by on Jan 25, 2014 08:02 PM

In a nutcell it is my utmost only desire to set Indian Aam Aadmi free from any type of corruption at any stage in our day to day life.We can not forget and forgive any one who has or had or will compell us to live under this condition.
My only one humble suggestion to our party that our main moto must be to reimburse and compensate the innocent Aam Aadmi from the loss sufferd by them in the past due to our corrupt rulers may it be UPA or NDA or only Congress or BJP or any other party. We must first calculate the correct figure of such loss may it be on account of BOFORCE DEAL , FODDERS SCAME, CWG SCAME , COAL BLOCK , HELICOPTER DEAL etc etc.and amount which is either lying in India or in any Bank A/c abroad be revert back in Aam Aadmi's Bank's A/c propotionately immediately and automatically without any application and demand from such victimised an Aam public. Afterall it is a public property and every body has a equal constitutional right to use it. As such it is the joint liability and responsibilty of all such party to reimburse and revert back to its legitmate owners rather than to hold it illegally.

Reasons why Chinese excel in sports compared to India
by samudra blr on Jan 25, 2014 06:16 PM  | Hide replies

1. The chinese athletes are meat eaters, they excel in physical exercises, but we Indians are vegetarians we excel in mental activities.

2.Chinese follow a strict training program and target medals at a young age of any athlete. They focus on it. India should hand over all games to Army Sports Institute, each district in India should have a branch of Army sports Institute to train and nurture the talent.

3.India has potential talent in rural places. This talent is not tapped. Most of the sports people in India originate from convents in urban India.

4. India should shift focus from being more cricket centric to multi sport centric. The media , the sports broadcasters , the sponsors, everyone should focus on multi sports. Only half a dozen countries play cricket in the world, it is not a widely accepted.

Chinese achievements in the mental activities that you speak of are also immensely superior to those of Indians. Any doubt about that?

In addition Bir, I would state that our sportsperson get satisfied by their achievements at national level, and if some do manage to get a silver or bronze in Olympics,we raise them on our heads, give out cash prizes, villas, and plots, which leads to our sportsperson allowing success to enter their heads, and in future fail to repeat their performance. They took up promotional events, endorsements, ramp shows etc, which made them come into money, much larger than what they would get from the game. This has happened with
Bindra,Rathore,Vijendra, and will happen with Saina,Vijay
Kumar, Dutt etc.

As observed it appears that Indians have not taken Li Na's victory in a Grand Slam event sportingly. India thanks to the western press considers itself to be a rival of China in every arena,-education,commerce,manufacturing,finance ,sports etc. We conveniently forget that China's GDP,& per capita income is 5 times that of ours.It is the biggest trading country in the world today, having a foreign exchange stock of over $ 3.5 trillion, whereas we are languishing @ around $ 290 billion. India with its history of fine male tennis players, never had the honor to win a single Grand Slam(singles) event ,not even a ATP 1000 or ATP 500 event. Our northern neighbour took to tennis in the 1990's and their Li Na has won 2 Grand Slam titles in the last 3-4 years. Even in Olympics China finishes in the top 2 with around 36-38 golds, and in Beijing 2008,topped with 51 golds, beating USA to second place. It is high time our obsessed media stops comparing the two.

We Indians have readily accepted the superiority of Japanese and Koreans over us, but due to the inherent hate, jealousy, fear of the Chinese, due to the tremendous humiliation they had inflicted on us in the 1962 war, we are not ready to accept their success.
