India sent 3 participants to the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, presently going on. All 3 have finished their respective events and not only thrilled their countrymen back here with their performances,but astonished the spectators @ Sochi who were viewing the events. The showing of the grand 3 are given below: 1) Keshavan - 37th out of 39 2) Nadeem - 85th out of 89 3) Himanshu - 72nd out of 75 With such wonderful performances,a few enthusiasts writing on these coloumns wanted India to bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics,astounding wishes really.

On browsing through the medals table of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, I could not find India's name. It appears that our 3 participants for the above event were so morose due to having to walk under the IOC flag @ the opening ceremony that 2 of them finished second/third last in their events,and no better is expected from the 3rd competitor.Loyalty to the nation and its flag is shown by performing and not by mediocrity.

How come a novice country in winter sports like China get 3 golds in the ongoing Winter Olympics 2014 @ Sochi,Russia, whereas countries with a tradition for winter sports like GBR,France,Japan are lagging behind China, in the medals table. India which boasts of International level ski & snow sports venues/resorts like Gulmarg,& Auli, finished last in both the events in which it has participated so far. Our third participant for this Olympics is to be seen on 19th,and it is quite evident that his show will be similar to the other two, flag or no flag hoisted at the games is not going to change the fortunes.
