Its the same everywhere.. Pete Sampras will always be seen as better than Woodford and Woodbridge. Don't feel bad. Your saying so will not send fans rushing to airport next time. You still have a name that people know.
I am as much a supporter of Jwala-ponnappa pair as I am a supporter of Saina.
We all in the forum blame this woman. but fail to understand the key point she tries to highlight. To me it just shows that India, especially the younger generation, doesnot pay attention to details. It just goes with crowd. It is really bad for india which boasts itself of demographic dividend - in the form of major portion of the population being the youth. The youth doesn't think, but go with crowd - This is my charge.
Jwala gutta is presenting a serious issue. We Indians don't respect the doubles as much as (she says not even 20%) we respect the singles.
It is a serious problem. It exists in every aspect of our society. We don't respect 11 men in the cricket team, but one man - the captain. Captain, in terms of performance, is only the average of the team. But the credit of win and loss belongs to him. I am not surprised, because we believed that 1.2 billions cant do, but one man (Modi) can do. I think it is a serious problem in our understanding of Leadership and Management.
Any self-respecting individual will agree and sympathize with Jwala.
Now coming to her performance. Yesterday she played reasonably well, but Ponnappa did some serious errors. In the previous group match vs Singapore, Jwala did some serious errors, but ponnappa was better.

The root cause is Indian lethargy to Sports.
Either by parents, who think sports is equivalent to roaming with a katora like beggar. They however, have no qualms about their child shunning education n wasting time behind politicos or their political parties. Their thinking - Politics always pays.
Or officials, who look at sports as ONLY a grazing pasture, to place their relatives, friends, chamchas etc. in plum positions, do setting, undertake foreign trips for sightseeing (under the name of Olympics or others) n earn millions personally personally but develop nothing.

She should celebrate with her family and friends and hangup the boots... She raises valid points about lack of attention... Sushil Kumar, our ace wrestler, is a son of a bus Driver...Their family sacrificed everything .. He did not compalin about lack of anything though he stayed in a moth ridden residence along with other wrestlers...

So not complaining is good? When someone achieves so much for the country and folks like you and me don't even care what they did and how they live... but at every juncture complain we are so bad at sports and never win any medals in Olympics... there's something amiss here.
Ashwini Ponnappa and Jwala Gutta should thank their lucky stars that they were born and grew up in a different India than the one Amita Kulkarni grew up in!
Had these two young ladies been Amita's contemporaries, they too would have been forced to marry some thug politician from UP!

Ameeta Kulkarni got her husband Syed Modi murdered since she was having an affair with Sanjay Singh whom she married later on

There is no comparison. These two are players. Amita was the game changer.
What is surprising that every time the sound is made only by Jwala and Ashwini keeps cool. Needless to say Ashwini also played a very important role equal to Jwala in entering to final. It is better to ignore these outbursts of lost players.
