not because he has won the US open doubles once again, but at the age when most would have retired and taking commentary or coaching, he is still playing and when he plays for India his passion is at the highest.
The news that Paes & Stepanek have won the US open Doubles was nectar to the ears! Paes has been consistent in winning the US Open (his third one) ever since he lost the finals along with Mahesh Bhupathi in 1997. He has been a finalist on four occasions. This is his 13th Grand Slam which no Indian has achieved so far. Again, he has emulated Martina Navratilova by winning a Grand Slam after crossing 40 years of age.
If there is one contemporary sportsperson in India who truly deserves Bharat Rathna, it is Leander Paes.
I've lost count of the number of times I've seen Leander playing his heart out and giving more than 100% for India during Davis Cup ties. And the fact he is still playing top-notch doubles tennis at 40 shows his love and commitment for the game. He is, indeed, the true Bharat Rathna, whether they give him the official award or not.

Greatest show of grit and perseverence. Keep it up. New generation Indians need to learn from this and try to emulate. India has the mettle to stand up as the best in the world . This is what the winning streak in Leander has shown and it should be an inspiration to all of us Indians. Jai Paes ! Jai Hindustan.!! Dr ANNIE THOMAS

"ONE OF THE LEAST HEALTHY NATIONS WHERE PEOPLE STARE AT YOU IF YOU GO FOR A JOG" --- Good Observation. It's all due to our oily food and lazyness,
At 40 he has won a major Grand slam Tournament and he does not want to retire at this stage.Congratulations to Leander for winning his eighth Grand slam doubles tennis tournament.
Hats off & congratulations Leander! You make us really proud as compared to all those others in Indian tennis who try their best to pull you down! Keep it up! Our good wishes and prayers are with you.
