Those complaining about cricket.... and mediocre talent.
by NashikMarathi on Sep 02, 2013 07:51 AM  | Hide replies

At least in Aus and SAf the interest in cricket is on par with any other sport. Cricket is certainly more popular in Aus than hockey in Aus. Aus is one of the top hockey playing nations.

In Germany, Holland, Spain, Argentina - the interest of people is football, football, football and hockey is not second or third but maybe tenth.

So those saying cricket is not on par with football in world in terms of participation and athletic talent..... that is true. They are right.

But cricket is certainly better than hockey. Field hockey is most pathetic. Now Ice hockey is something else.....

your talking like a fool. must be obsessed with cricket so much that you should known one thing cricket is not a Olympic sport, this alone shows how much the world is interested in cricket compare to hockey which is a Olympic sport.
that gave India 8 gold medals.
very soon west indies and new Zealand will disappear from world cricket, report suggest that cricket is loosing popularity in these countries has youth are taking interest in Olympic sports then cricket.

Ok hockey is an Olympic sport like synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics..... Oh and they "voted" or "decided" to eliminate wrestling as an Olympic sport. Go figure.

The sports like athletics make the Olympics. Nobody gives a rats rear end about field hockey, in the Olympics or outside.

I Knew The Indian Fate From The Day One

India sending minnows and expecting miracles to happen.

There is absolutely no dearth of quality and top class young players in India. Saddest aspect of Indian hockey is that the most inefficient people are @ the helm @ the grass root levels. Men are inefficient never seen going around scouting or hunting for the right talents.

Anyway the current team members look evolved, but a long way to go for them...

From form of the Olympics they should have finished last in the present Asia cup. When will you learn to appreciate??? The team went without 4 of their regular players who were out due to injury. So going by that the hockey team has achieved miracles. The goal was to qualify for the world cup which they have achieved. So stop crying and complaining over anything and everything.

The moment of reckoning is the moment of success
by vaibhav kumar on Sep 01, 2013 09:41 PM

Haver been seeing India, across many sports barring recent success in cricket courtsey to mainly mediocrity of world cricket, has been mentally and emotionally not strong, to win crucial moments and win tournaments or championships.

Loosing to pakistan in Sharjah was a routine despite many a times, they were on the brink of victory. Same is the story with Hockey and other games.

Big matches should motivate us big times, but rather then we faulter, lack that killer punch and always get the credit of "well playted, hard luck" etc.

Its not about Hockey, Cricket or any other game, genetically, we lack strenght to convert moment of reckoning to moment of success, and always like to satify and justify our failures. The catch word is "think positive" and we again prepare ourselves to faulter at cruical moments.

We are happy being wonderful servents to foreign countries and work as cheap technical/intellectual/sophisticated labor to them. And on contrary are happy, with out II or III best efforts.
