Its really sad that you are wanting Federer to retire though he has not hit the rock bottom. Thats when most players retire. Yeah it would be great to retire when at the top of the game itself. Very few players I can remember that way. So instead of lamenting, he is not retiring, it would be nice to support the players passion for the game.

ATP tour finals
by Michael on Oct 21, 2013 01:11 AM  | Hide replies

Even the sense of calling Fedex not qualifying, a shame even in Britishers way is not correct. He has won the title 6 times and is now 32 plus a career at the verge of retirement.

The article would be better titled.... 'Its a shame Nadal hasn't won the ATP world tour final even though a multiple grand slam winner'.

Its a shame but Nadal is shameless.

I'm sure such an article on Nadal would be in the waiting, for the world tour finals to be over.

I think what you mean by shameless is the way he puts in his mannerisms even though they are ugly. Its really shameful to pull at the underwear routinely. I hope he doesn't do that otherwise in his formal meetings.

Nadal is shameless

Fede not qualifying for ATP tour finals is not shameless..... he has already won that tournament 6 times.

Shameless is when someone qualifies umpteen times and doesn't win even once, like Nadal.

Nadal will never win that tournament as long as Del potro and Djoko play.

Hey, why do you want to attack Nadal for this article! First of all understand what the author wrote. Britshers often use the word 'shame' to suggest something unfortunate. For example, I could tell my friend: "It's a shame that you could not make it to yesterday's party". It doesn't demean him in any way. Same goes for Federer - we have seen him there for 10 years and if he misses this year, it's a shame. Not shame for Federer here.

I know shame has another meaning also... but I'm talking in the Indian sense, though the article doesn't talk about it in that manner.

To talk in Britishers way... Its a shame Nadal hasn't won the ATP tour final title though he has won multiple GS titles...

I hope I'm clear.

Anyway to answer your argument micheal..the very fact that u had the confidence in delpo and djoko to stop nadal at the wtf , and not in Federer , answers the questions for yourself.

I'm a fan of any tennis player, except Nadal. So is my support. So I need not want only Fedex to beat Nadal.

There is no shame if Federer is not qualified tto play in ATP masters final.
Unlike cricket it is an individual game as well as taxing one for 2 hrs to five hours play depending on best of three or best of 5 sets.
federer has crossed the age of 30 & he is the record holder for highest slams.
When new young fittest players game it is very difficult to be no one after 10 years.
whatever he has achieved is more than others & he is also lucky not to be the case of borg era where there are 4 to 5 great players.

Why should it be a shame if he fails to qualify. He is stretching his limuts without bothering about what anybody feel. He is still able to wield a racket with panache !

Both of you word 'shame' can be used in two ways one the way you are considering it and the other is to describe something unfortunate, at least that is how it's described in Oxford dictionary
