Milkha deserves Bharat Ratna , not Tendulkar.

Milkha performed very well with limited facilities in 1950's . He came from very disturbed background.

Tendulkar was a good batsman till around 2007. His games after 2007 were for personal fame.
Tendulkar was not a great captain , his captaincy statistics is not so good and he did not perform with the bat well when he was a captain. However I appreciate Tendulkar for his contribution . One particular innings I cannot forget was in a ODI final against Australia at Sharjah. He single handedly led India to finals and made them win. Another innings of his was against Pak in a test match at Chennai. Even though India did not win that match, he took India almost close to Victory.

Singlehandedly he has also taken india to defeat from jaws of victory while playing for his records. We have separate awards for sportsmen and giving away Bharat Ratna for sports overlooking many others who deserve this highest civilian award is a mockery of justice. What happened to his Ferrari also needs to be looked into. The tax was reduced and finally he sold off what he got as a gift, at least that is whay i heard. Anyone interested in Tendu can do research and find out more.

Role model for making 1000 crores in 20 years of Cricket !!!!
by sanjay verma on Nov 24, 2013 01:01 PM  | Hide replies

What a headline !!!!
Even though Milkha Singh has been quite restrained in praising Tendulkar, Rediff has twisted it into such catching headline.
Yes, Tendulkar should be a role model for our present and future generations for making (milking) grand money from Cricket....... He should be a role model for being a deft sportsperson perfectly exploiting the nexus between sports, advertizing, endorsements, event management, powerful industrialists, sports administrators and politicians..... making it a win-win for himself and this nexus at the cost of financially and emotionally draining the common Indians

Don't worry, The headline says 'Role model' not Role model. In quotes that means he was not a role model that was expected.

that Late Mr Khashaba Jadhav was the first Indian wrestler who won First olympic Bronz medal for India in 1952 Helsinki olympics without any support from Indian Government. He died in Poverty with no money to spend on his medical treatment..this person actually deserved Bharat Ratna..however Govt did not even bother to give medical tratment to him..

Yuvraj Patil,

The important question here to ask is how are the candidates shortlisted for the seemingly prestigious Bharat Ratna?

Its more of perception problem rather than the actual pride factor here. Honestly I don't see any difference between the way the nominations are done for Bharat Ratna and Filmfare awards, simple.

So as I see it, Dhyan Chand, Kashaba Jadhav were unlucky and Tendulkar was lucky.

br was given to sachin merely for political gains. it was pappu who came to watch last day of the test n went straight from here to pm n declared sachin as br. no procedures followed which they claim to hv followed for dhyan chand.
let sachin admire modi n his award vl b taken away by the upa govt. upa govt is angered by lata mangeshkar's comments praising modi.
