What if Anand played 28.Bf1, instead of the 28.Nf1 blunder? Is there a position left for black to prevent a check mate?

Yes, Carlson(black) could have prevented the mate. 28. Bf1 Qd1.
Next 29 white goes for Rh4 then black Qh5. Then white would be forced to do an rook / king exchange.
