First it should be Dhyan chand, then Viswanath Anand and then Sachin....First 2 deserves equally with that of Sachin...unfortunately govt too went with the more popular sport...very sad
No doubt Tendulkar who played more for records and earned money also deserved Bharath Ratna. Dhyan, who played for India and won Gold Medoals when no TV,No infrastructure deserves more. Anand deserves if he wins the ongoing championship. Greats like R.Krishnan, Premjith Lal, Vijay Amirtharal all near the Counter of BR. Vajpayee should be the third person of this year.

Cricket playing countries are only about 20 about whole world plays Chess, whole world plays Badminton then why not Saina, whole world plays Hockey then why not Mjr. Dhyanchand, whole world plays Shooting then why not Rajyavardhan of Abhinav Bindra and many more, Sachin should not be given Bharat Ratna, it is dishonour of Bharat Ratna Samman
BharatRatna is given to those who excel in their field & raise India's name in the International arena. Sachin, Dhyanchand & Anand have done exactly that & hance all of them deserve the BharatRatna. Let's not argue why one got & other didn't, instead let's look at the positive side & say that now the doors are open for the other deserving sportspersons. On a second thought so many non deserving politicians have got BR (e.g. Rajiv Gandhi, Ambedkar, Nehru, Indira Gandhi) that the image & the importance of this award has taken a beating. Let's hope with the awards for Sachin & Prof. CNR Rao, the lost credibility of this award gets revived
Now that he is on the brink of being demolished in his own favorite game of chess, and will most definitely lose the "World Champion Title", he will qualify and will be rewarded the Bharat Ratna. So, just be patient.
