Rafa had to contend with two greatest players of this era-Federer and Novak. Rafa broke Federers's supremacy. Even though Federer has more GS but on a one to one record Rafa is far ahaed. Rafa is the only player who challenged Federer is his prime and literally destroyed his supremacy. Later due to injuries he had to be away from tennis for quite some time during which Novak took away the reign from a fading Federer. Currently, Novak is the best player. But Rafa is the only player who keeps challenging him. Rafa did not let Novak complete a slam. Now u decide who is the greatest?
strange ppl say Fede had no competition..when fede started winning from 2003 hewitt, roddick,safin,davy,etc were all Fede's age (mid 20's)...What can Fede do if they can't raise their game to fede's dominant level...n speaking about Rafa..its so strange that Fede won 14 of his 17 slams after 2005 when Rafa won his 1st FO...how come Fede is not domiant in Rafa's era ?

I have been one of Federer's biggest fans in the world.I still am.I could not digest the fact that Nadal would thump him time and again and Nadal fans here would celebrate that.So I used to post all kinds of stories beginning with doping allegations against Nadal,then a theory that Wimbledon changed its surface to help Nadal win there,etc.In fact the surface change statement made things worse for me as Rafa fans ridiculed me openly and made me laughing stock forcing me to leave the forum for a long time.Now I have realised that whatever I post it makes no difference to a great champion like Nadal.Whatever I say,he has nothing to prove to anybody,not in the least to me who is a nobody compared to legends like Nadal and Federer.Nadal has proved he is a total and true champion and great human being.I may post all kinds of drivel but the champ will just go on and win.I apologise to all the Rafa fans for insulting them and also for the insane stuff I posted.I also urge my co Federer fan and poster Vasantiben to please stop abusing people here thereby lowering the dignity fo Federer fans.Let us all enjoy the game.Vamos Rafa.

Yes you are correct most of Federer's titles came in a time where there was no competition worth the name,and when Nadal appeared Federer wilted away.Still he is one of the greatest of all time.I agree we cant say for sure that Federer is the GOAT but we can safely say he is one of the GOATS.

all the tournaments, which you have specified are all clay courts... which proves nadal is just a clay court specialist. his dominance is only on clay courts... he might have a few wins in GS in grass and hard courts, then it is all not dominance. take out the french open titles from nadal, then his GS titles is 4, which will be lesser than djokovic's 6 GS titles.

By Rocky's (warped) logic,we can take out 5/6 of Djoko's titles because it all came on hard courts.Or 7 of Federer's grass titles or 9 of his hard court titles...so nobody will be left with any dominance anywhere.Rafa being a 'claycourter' was an argument valid in 2005.Tpoday,it's just an argument of those frustrated at being proven wrong,or the downright illliterates.Like our friend here Rockbrain.

Your brain is malfunctioning. Federer has 7 Wimbledon, 5 Us open, 4 Australian open and 1 French open. Nadal has 8 french open, 1 auusie open, 1 us open and 2 Wimbledon.Just tell me who is versatile? Nadal surely is a Clay court king, no doubt. He is dominant, of course, in clay. Not in other surfaces. kindly give credit to those to whom it is due.

even Novak for all his all court skills & exquisite play admits there is no competitor like Rafa. Granted Rafa has his limitations but his court coverage from baseline and dogged determination make him a stand out player- definitely one of the games greats of al time. even Borg for all his titles had many limitations as a player and his court coverage was also not as wide and astonishing as Rafa's. PLease take a bow for another great champion- along side Federer and Novak and brilliant but often unlucky Murray.
