Congratulations to Serena. She should surpass Martina's record also. Serena and Williams are playing tennis and no matter who is opponent, we simply get focussed. Sharapova is losing her grip on the game now for the reasons best known to her.
Serena has already proved herself a great single and doubles women's tennis player.
She intends playing upto the age of 40 (currently being 31) and with her sheer fitness and gym-toned muscle power is capable of bludgeoning her opponents for another 5-6 years. At the rate of 2 Grand Slam titles per year, she may well overhaul Margaret Court's record of 24 Grand Slam titles, now needing only eight more to equal her.
While sister Venus won 5 Wimbledons and then faded away, Serena has kept herself in boxer-like shape and this does not augur well for her opponents. The only competition for Serena is Serena herself.
