DESERVES
by Shilpa Mehta on Jul 25, 2013 02:06 PM  | Hide replies

I know , She's very good doubles player ,

if not singles. I saw her game & played

couple of events with her in PSCB .

( Petroleum Board )

Definately she deserves that much respect .

Base price should not have changed at all & that too without informing them .

To achieve that level in any sports needs
to put your lifetime efforts .

that life time effort could not even win a single medal in Asian Games and Olympics. All she won is a world championship bronze and Commonwealth Gold when Chinese girls are winning gold after gold in Asian Games and Olympics.

$25000 is enough for player of her caliber who plays the sport hardly anyone follows in our country

How many medals have you won for your country?

How many medals has Sir Ravindra Jadeja won for his country.

Put things in perspective my dear friend....

If a player was given ICON stature, then she was defintely given a raw deal by slashing her base price and not even informing her.

The least expected from the ody is to maintain parity in the procedure.

if the board thought that she wasn't worth 50K, then they should not have chosen her as an icon player in the first place.

Since they did not do that it is definitely unfair on their part to slash her price and not even inform her beforehand.

women's doubles was dropped after she was declared an icon player and naturally, no one wanted to spend any money on her when that event was dropped. She should consider herself lucky that she was sold for $25000

That is my whole poitn my friend.

The tournament is not organized in a proper manner, and the player has got a raw treatment.

You're right!

I guess, at least, at one point of time, she was No #1 Nationals Doubles player.

$ 25,000 per annum taxable is no big deal, even one factors that badminton is not too popular a game.

Surely, sponsors could have paid more atleast for her good looks that may attract many spectators and wide electronic coverage. Just look at this site itself. They could have put the picture of her partner Ashwini Ponnappa who too got downgraded and paid the same amount; but they chose Jwala here-why? to get more eyeballs so more TRPs hence more ad revenue.

These games are patterned IPL T20 style with little game and more for the crowd which dont normally understand the nuances of the game.

If I were the sponsor, I would have paid more to have Jwala in my team and even rigged the tournament so that she sails through final rounds.

Afterall, dont they do the same in Indian Idol or American Idol shows? They do; here it is not just talent but looks too
