The decline comes fast for some. Courier and Chang tried to hang on but had to play qualifiers soon

play till 2016

I believe he wants to play till olympics 2016. He sure has the fitness and would play. He should select correct tourny's till then. He is no more invincible and no shame in that. No1 can win forever. Any tourny wins from now on will be bonus to his illustrious carrer. He will always remain GOAT.

He was invincible only against the likes of Hewitt,Safin and Roddick...not even Nalbandian...and since Nadal started making short work of him on a regular basis since 2007,he never was the same.Bye Bye Federer.

yes you are so right. He still won 14 of his 17 GSs after Rafa won his 1st FO in 2005.

ahaha..good one. Nadal's dominance of many players has been mainly on clay courts. On other courts he is the same or has performed worse. Federer has also been number 1 and created record staying as number 1 during Nadal's career.

Nadal has a very unique game of running and fetching even very impossible shots and making winners. His knees has paid the price of playing such a style of game is going to indirectly make the short work of his own career. Federer is never the same after Nadal appeared, but he still has a better fitness and is going to play for a long time creating more records.

One must not underestimate Federer
by Samir Desouza on Jul 21, 2013 11:30 AM

Roger Federer once called the greatest with 17 Grand Slam titles in his kitty, now struggles against ordinary opponents.

He is almost 32 years of age now (born on 08-08-1981) but I think he would like to rival Andre Agassi's record of being the oldest number one in the game. Agassi, as you may recall was number one at the age of 33.

So although Federer has now lost to Delbonis, one excuse he may have was that he was using a new, larger racket.

His career seems to be on the downslide now that there have been younger, fitter and perhaps better players like Murray, Djokovic, Nadal and Del Potro.

The tragic part of Federer's career is that he improved tennis to such heights that every ordinary player today plays superlative tennis and is out to ambush him whenever he plays.

So sad but true, Federer has become a victim of his own success.

Delbonis is definitely a better player than his ranking might suggest.. he is just 22yrs of age and still has a lot of tennis in him.. he will surely break into the top 50 this year itself and he is a rising star. its interesting to note that clay court is delbonis's favorite surface and made the best use of the the situation to beat federer.

its is the start of the end of roger federer... he might have the game to play for another couple of years, where he has to select the right tourneys.
