Where they can improve their mind and muscles and much more.

Least amount of efforts are put in developing play grounds in India. How many people play hockey here?

The same was about IPL. Now we know what IPL does for Indian cricket.
Atleast, the amount of money involved in HPL is much less.
Mostly, these leagues does not help their national team. As is seen in professional football leagues vis-aa-vis national teams.

Unfortunately, the success of Indian hockey players did not bring either popularity or money. At least they will earn some money through HPL and also become popular as well.

It is a good step. Also, many of the sponsors like Hero Honda, Airtel are fed up with cricket,so they are looking for other sports where they can advertise with much lesser ad budget. Cricket is turning out to be too expensive and less rewarding due its overdose.
