Tennis

Persons who are blaming aita that aita could not develop players must mind one true fact first and should not compare tennis with cricket or football in India. In a poor country in India common parent can not afford to allow children to play Tennis as it is too much costly game in comparison with other games. Children can play cricket and football anywhere with little cost but to play tennis court is required and it is not available everywhere and one have to spend approx. 30000( Good quality racquet-12000,String reel-5000, ball 150/ pc,net-.5000, Shoe-.3000,Grip-1500/set,Bag-6000) and there will be to much recurring cost of ball, shoe and racquet. How much cricket and football players were developed by bcci or ifa? All are self made. Also as tennis is not a popular game in India due to cost factor there are fewer sponsors to conduct tournaments. These young tennis players are demanding sky high but what is their performance in International tennis? Did they win any atp tournament? What is their performance in Devis cup? What they have done for India? In ioc, fifa ,itf, there are head who are not a sports person. What are the problems of players in it? These shameless players did not concentrate their game to prove them first and demanding sky high. Our legends like Amritraj, Ramesh, and Paes proved themselves many times but never beg like these players. Aita took the right decision to throw them and should not change the decision.

SELFISH GANG OF 11

Somdev you are young but appears to be too smart and crooked. You are much more concerned about your own interest and not your country. This will not be tolerated by the people of India. AITA should take tough stand and suspend selfish gang of 11 who are not of the opinion that the interest of the country comes first. There are hundred of patriots who sacrificed their life for the sake of their country only. I would request you (11) to play the Davis Cup tie with South Korea in the next month at Delhi.

Who is Anil Khanna ?
Has he played Tennis in any level except Club level or is he a ball boy ?
Let them first respect players & then talk with media.

Agree with Debarata Dey. Mr. Siva, most great players have been ball boys before they became great players. The problem we have is the players who are not even in the top 100s in international tennis demanding first class travel and want to decide who will be in the team etc. These people are the worst of the worst - that refuse to play for the country.

Does BCCI represent India? It is not controlled by Government of India and sports minister.

Yes BCCI doesn't represent India, but surely they arrange enough tournaments in india, and ensure players gets more money they deserve..what does AITA does, they don't even arrange one decent ATP tournament in india..but still they want share of money earned from ATP tournaments.

Prove yourself
by Santanu Banerjee on Jan 12, 2013 06:02 PM  | Hide replies

Somdev, first prove yourself like Paes then demand for something. Players like Paes never demanded such but proved himself, won so many Devis cup matches (86- highest in India- 48 in singles). Paes beat star players like Boetsch, Leconte, Ferreira, Ivanisevic, Siemerink, Navac in Devis cup.Meligeni in Olympic, Sampras in ATP tour all in singles, one ATP singles title, as you are a also a singles player, 13 Grand slam title in doubles, total 51 doubles title in grand slam and ATP tour, Doubles Career slam, Olympic medal, won 3 Wimbledon doubles title in 3 decades as a only second player after Rod lever, best ranking in singles is 73 and in doubles is 1, won 99 singles and 628 doubles match, first Indian and only tennis player in the world to compete 6 Olympics, awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna award and Padmashri.
Where there is no title in your belt and demand is sky high.

Looks like you are cricket fan who has recently started taking interest in tennis. Yes you have a long list for somdev to prove and i agree, but atleast he has picked up a tennis racquet and can hit ball in court, can AITA who claims to represent tennis in country do that ? If we go by your logic to first prove and then talk, then AITA should not even talk about tennis. Grow up Mr Banerjee

Well Mr. Faisal. The point is the silly demand of these stupidos that are selfish people. They wont travel in business class? HAve you seen a business class seat, Mr. Faisal?

These are the same players that refused to play for india in olympics? Did you forget or do you have short memory?

The qualification to play for india is to play at the highest level like Paes did. He was inside the 100s in singles at one time. None of these BUMMMS can claim that.

Well, that is why i said cricket fans who recently started tennis can comment like that. Buddy Somdev was within 100, so if we go by your logic, he has right to comment

I m not a ckt fan n i m watching tennis since ur chaddihood. It seems that u know nothing about tennis n came here to argue. Now grow up n show some stats. In every sports n every country there r non playing persons including our country in every sports n also in ioc, fifa etc. They will not consult u to make their govn. body. A player should concentrate in his game first to improve, prove himself then demand.
