AITA

Like in most developed countries, AITA should have only tennis players in the board so that corruption and politics can be avoided.

Prove yourself
by Santanu Banerjee on Feb 07, 2013 04:46 PM  | Hide replies

Somdev, first prove yourself like Paes then demand for something. Players like Paes never demanded such but proved himself, won so many Devis cup matches (86- highest in India- 48 in singles). Paes beat star players like Boetsch, Leconte, Ferreira, Ivanisevic, Siemerink, Navac in Devis cup.Meligeni in Olympic, Sampras in ATP tour all in singles, one ATP singles title, as you are a also a singles player, 13 Grand slam title in doubles, total 51 doubles title in grand slam and ATP tour, Doubles Career slam, Olympic medal, won 3 Wimbledon doubles title in 3 decades as a only second player after Rod lever, best ranking in singles is 73 and in doubles is 1, won 99 singles and 628 doubles match, first Indian and only tennis player in the world to compete 6 Olympics, awarded Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna award and Padmashri.Where there is no title in your belt and demand is sky high.

why only Somdev Or players have to prove themselves ? Why not AITA prove itself ? Is there a single top tennis player nurtured by AITA ever ?

Somdev's demand here is not reasonable., but that doesnt mean any xyz can question him Or ask him to prove himself.. Dont you know Somdev have won 2 Gold medals in Asian Games for India ? He is the first Indian tennis player to do so. His highest ATP ranking is 62, which is better than 73.

1.Player has to proved himself as AITA can't develop a player if he has no/less capability or if he will divert his mind to other things. Who develop legend players to be G.S. champions ?
2. Any XYZ can question when the begging or demand limit will be crossed. If any XYZ can’t accept, it will be his choice.
3. Are not these 02 achievements of somedev looking very very small in comparison?

if player have to develop himself entirely, then why aita ? atleast it should provide proper facilities., players shouldnt run to US for training.

Questing demand is ok, but dont question what a player have done without knowing his achievements.

If the achievments are small, then how no one else achieved it before ? If you compare what Paes had done at age of 26 , u will see Somdev is no less. By ATP singles ranking, he is better than Paes. He have Gold medal in Asian Games, which no-one else have since 1958. He hae defeated many seeded players too & have reached ATP finals.

1. If you go through the big names of Tennis players nobody was developed by his country. All the G.S champions have/had coach from private coaching academy.
2. If you know the great achievements of Somedev other than Asiad, in ATP tour and Grand slams please inform Somedev first.
3. As Paes and Mahesh are Doubles player they did not achieved Asiad singles title. Paes have an Olympic bronze which is superior to Asiad gold. Name the top seeded players Somedev defeated like Paes and name the ATP tour finals he reached except Chennai Open and Johannesburg which are under ATP world tour 250 series, lowest tier of events on the ATP tour. Among all ATP tour there are 9 tiers. 250 series came at number 6 in ranking just above challenger and status of Asiad tennis is nowhere in ATP.
4. At 26 Paes had 17 ATP titles and Olympic bronze in his belt. At 22 Paes won Olympic bronze. At the age 24 he won 6 ATP doubles title. At the age 25 he won 6 ATP doubles title which includes 03 masters series. At the age of 25 Paes won Newport open-ATP 250 series in singles. Won against Pete Sampras (1) in New Haven in singles. At 26 he reached final of all four G.S tournaments doubles and won Wimbledon and French open doubles with Mahesh and mixed doubles also. Also at 26 he won other 03 ATP doubles. Paes became No.1 ranking in doubles at 26. In Devis cup he beat A.Boetsch,H.Leconte,W.Ferreira,G.Ivanisevic,J Siemerink,Jiri Novac,Martin Damm,Peter Korda,Tim Hennman all before 26.
So chaitanya, first y

So comparison is 2 Asiad gold(ATP status- nil) and no ATP title of Somedev VS 17 doubles and one singles and one Olympic Bronze of Paes- both at 26. Really no less.

All big names in GS come from private coaching ? Ok, this have to change & AITA should lead it. Do you know any such private coaching in India ? Do you know financial background of Indian players & whether they can afford such coaching outside India ? Thats where AITA is at blame and players agitation is understandle.

Why you need to put aisde asian game achievement of Somdev ? He won first commenwealth games Gold for India too. So, why you are talking about Somdev have not achieved anything for country ?

its aita v/s Somdev.. Not Paes v/s Somdev. Still achievement in singles by Somdev cannot be ignored at all. In terms of ATP ranking Somdev is the best singles player for India in last 25years.

Ok, you think Somdev is nothing. Can AITA Or India get 1 player who can reach top-100 in next 3-5 years ?

AITA can’t change it, even the current players will be there. In India everybody and almost all sponsors running behind Cricket. Running expenses for Tennis coaching to new players will be very high due to court, equipments, support stuff, sports doctors, medicine, foreign coach etc. at 3-4 academies in the country and too much sponsors will be needed. There are very less sponsors in Football, Hockey and Tennis and also spectators are also less especially in Tennis. This game is too much costly to start and in a poor country like India parents can’t afford. Children can play cricket and football anywhere with little cost but to play tennis court is required and it is not available everywhere and one have to spend approx. 30000 (Good quality racquet-12000, String reel-5000, ball 150/ pc, net-.5000, Shoe-.3000, Grip-1500/set, Bag-6000) and there will be too much recurring cost of ball, shoe and racquet. How much cricket and football players were developed by bcci or ifa? All are self made. Also as tennis is not a popular game in India due to cost factor there are fewer sponsors to conduct tournaments. That’s why we are lacking in these and other Olympic/Asiad games events. Those who are performing well, those are their individual effort and credit. Once we were no.1 in Hockey, Football standard was better than now but after 1983 Cricket WC it has been changed. Also there will never be any such coaching academy in India because of lack of sponsors. If these pl

players will be there in AITA they also can do nothing, like now there are 4 former players in AITA. Somedev won Asiad and CW games medal but he did not achieved so much like Paes,Mahesh to demand like this. He has to achieve more and prove himself before some demand. Time will tell whether somedev can win any GS like Paes and Mahesh or not but until then he must concentrate his game not position in AITA.

AITA To Teach Lesson to Rebels
by Krishan attri on Feb 07, 2013 04:41 PM

Had AITA taken a bold stand at the time of indisciplin led by Bhupati before the London Olympics, the present lot could not have dared to put Self-interest before the Country.Even now,AITA should tell them in clear terms that their blackmailing will not be tolerated.Bhupati has already declared his intention to retire, but he has jeopardised the future of upcoming players like Devvarman & Vishnu Vardhan who have not seen through the game plan in the garb of Player's interest.Let them go & fresh group of players be nurtured for future & old war horse PAES is already available to play for the country.

Mr. Somedev, Think what will happen if all current players of cricket, football, hockey etc will demand the same. Concentrate to your basic job. What are your performance in ATP tour and Devis cup so far? Improve your performance like Krishnans, Amritrajs,Paes and Mahesh so that people wil remind you forever for your play, not for your greedy demands or beggings. Think that everybody knows Krishnans, Amritrajs,Paes and Mahesh but how many know Anil Khanna?
