Saina's poor run in 2012
by Ashish Singh on Dec 13, 2013 06:46 PM

Saina, our CWG 2010 gold medallist,London 2012 Olympic bronze medallist(though by default),IBL 2013 champion player who remained undefeated( no top notchers from China,Korea,Thailand,Japan participated in IBL 2013)has had an awful year in 2013, where she hardly made to the QF's in a few events, getting knocked out before that. However endorsement wise and quantum of prize money won 2013 has been Saina's best year. After every loss Saina & her coach Gopichand never failed to mention that due to Saina's lingering injuries she has not been able to give her best. If she is carrying an injury then why is she participating, will she not ruin her career by playing with injuries. She should learn from Sachin, he always took time out whenever injured.

She is a professional player

She knows best what is good for her. Her career or lifestyle? No one can say no to the view that she is the lone figure who has brought Indian Badminton to the world attention.
Youngster look upon her for inspiration.

No Indian athlete/participant in Olympics has ever won a second medal in the next Olympics, other than Sushil Kumar. So one should not criticise Saina for her flop show in 2013. We should remember that Saina was undefeated in the IBL 2013, though it could be said that no top notchers from China,Korea,Japan or Thailand participated in the event.

Her bronze medal win in olympics was a pure joke! Just an over hyped player and she is on her way to become one more Sania Mirza of India. Hope P V Sindhu does not follow this arrogant player's footsteps.

Count the individual medals (not team) won by Indians at Olympics? Now you know the value of Saina and now learn to respect her. Winning and losing is part of every game bro, do you know qualifying for World Superseries Finals itself is a great achievement. Only top players (note: top) can qualify for such events. By the way, have you played any sport before, because my commenting against saina, you are insulting yourself.

Overhyped player!
by sandeep kumar on Dec 12, 2013 10:55 PM  | Hide replies

In one of her interviews this year she said that she owns 6 cars. And she has impressive endorsements. Despite the fact that she is a work in progress and has no titles this year. The olympic bronze was lucky last year, and she is cashing in on that. Its high time she takes a leaf out of Sanias book, who despite career threatening wrist and knee injuries, has come back as a world class doubles player and is in the top 10, which is much tougher to crack than Badminton, where there are only 300 ranking players, and is not heard of in America or most of europe!

She is proving to be a disaster. First she fought with her coach Gopichand, then became a teflon celebrity & now any decent badminton player is able to thrash her. Her arrogance & poor attitude are beginning to reap rich negative dividends. Way to go Saina.

Idi0t. shuuut uuup.
U cannot win single game first.
Individual games like badminton, tennis etc., (mostly knock out type)are very tougher than team games like cricket((most corrupted, laziest and nth world game). Even cricketers score many ducks or single digit runs people like you run behind them and worship like g0d.

She is our only hope in Badminton for gold in 2016.She should not allow a premature end of career due to injuries that seems to have taken tool of her fitness level.
