He has to get past Nadal in QF.....

Roger has an easy path to QF in the US Open.

If Nadal gets there, Roger has to play the match of his life to win there.

In the semis he gets his pigeons Ferrer/Gasquet or Gulbis/Janowicz. I don't think they can beat Roger in a Slam semi.

Then hopefully he gets a tired Murray/Berdych/Djoker/Delpo in the finals.

He can do it - but he has to clear the Nadal QF.

This draw is one of the easiest for Federer except for facing Nadal likely in the QF. Nadal could be taken down even before he reaches the QF. I'm counting on Isner to do the job in the 4th round, if Nadal escapes Harrison, Pospisil and Davy.

I am not sure Isner gets past Monfils and then Kohli. Monfils, Kohli and Isner have all been pathetic against Nads but I agree Isner can luck out in a match versus Nads.

Just hope someone morphs into Rosol or Darcis if you want a Nads defeat. He has to be surprised and also have an off day.

Hello NashikGhati.Yes,there's a lots of 'hope this and that happens',and 'hopefully someone takes out Nadal' and 'hopefully Nole/Murray/Berdych/DelPo are tired, and have a bad day,and get injured',and many such conjectures involved in hoping Federer lifts the trophy,Realistically speaking,he would be much lucky to reach the QFs where he will no doubt exit. Now if Nadal's knees give way and Federer reaches the QF,I'm sure Ferrer woudl consider him easy meat to advance into the SFs.While it is also a golden opportunity for Gasquet/Gulbis/Janowicz to advance. These days, anybody thinks he can beat Federer.Get ready to hide your excrement smeared face (yet again).

Well spoken like a true Federer fan,my dear Michael. Our lives revolve around badmouthing Nadal and hoping someone else takes him out.Because we all know, when it comes to Fed v/s Nadal,it's 10-21(and counting).....anyway I am also praying someone like Harerison,Posposil,Davy,or Isner takes him out.Unfortunately by then the Stachovskys,Delbonis's ans Brandts of the world would have handed Federer (yet another) defeat.....

Relax "Anu" - Don't get your shorts in a wad.

One thing since you are so interested in head to head records - you may want to check how your Ferrer does against the Fed. It is not pretty.

While you're busy googling H2H records, can you find a single player in the top 30 who has a winning H2H against Nadal?Dont get your broaches in an uproar over it...take a chill pill.

His passion for the game makes him to continue....
by Sajesh Kumar on Aug 22, 2013 11:20 PM

It is not that he has to prove anyone for anything. He has shown all his talent and proved already.
Having so much of a passion for the game, he would be playing and playing and one day will retire gracefully.

Not time to retire
by Guest on Aug 22, 2013 03:33 PM

When Tommy Haas is playing excellent tennis at the age of 35 and ranked 13th in the world, why can't Federer. As mentioned in the article Agassi reached the final of a GS at 35 yrs age.

Federer played pretty well against Nadal in the recently concluded Cincinnati Masters. He lost boldly and not with whimper. But he must not follow suit of Tendulkar.

Tendulkar is playing a team sport whereas Federer's is an individual sport. By not retiring Tendulkar might be blocking someone else chance in the team but its not the case in individual sport, where a better player will naturally replace the other one in the ranking. Federer has the game to play for another 2 or 3 yrs.
