It is not strange that our women relay team failed. Remember the dope scandal after commonwealth games. Question is who has monitored the scheme, how some of our athletes were unknowingly made scape goats. Later one of our great athlete P.T. Usha started gloating and accusing Ashwini Akkunje, that her progress was doubtful. Why?? Beacause her wards Tinku Luka and Anu Mariam Jose could not get selected in relay or 400 m hurdles, if akkunje was in the team. Also Ashwini was a threat to her records in 400 mtr Hurdles. Now again ashwini has been kept out of team!! Why past athletes influence or politicize just to see that their academy student gets into the National team?? Shame. I happened to meet Aswini in one of her earlier meets. (I was also an athlete but not to international level). She is so innocent girl, she cant even talk straight for more than 3 minuets. Too childish also. I am sure that her case was a conspiracy to see that other athletes could be pushed in to team.
I do not think any sane person would have expected our athletes to bring any medal from the world championship. They are not up to the international standard. They should stop getting inspiration from Milkha Singh who himself could not win any olympic medals

has he got any olympic medal? Only in india, a biographical movie can be made on a sportsman who could not even win a single medal and 'inspire' audience.

If u can take it as an inspiration to achieve higher, it is sane. When prakash padukone won All Ingland open then there was a movement of Badminton in India. Vineet Kumar, Gopi Chand came in. B'coz of Gopichand several others like Saina, Sindhu, Kashyap, sai, Dewalkar, etc are coming up and making mark in world badminton. Milka singhs movement got lost for the reasons well known to old timers. Apart from that India was in still growing stage, with hunger & poverty everywhere. National importance was different. Povert & defence against Pakistan were main issue. Now the time is changed. One can see good facility, media cover, etc., which will surely be an instrument in development. Friend dont just whine. March forward.

these badminton players mentioned by you have not achieved much either. Saina Nehwal barely managed to win bronze in olyumpics that too when her chinese opponent got injured and forfeited the match. Sindhu has just won bronze in World Championship and she has potential but still she can not be called a world beater. All others mentioned by you including pulela gopichand have not won anything in olymics or world championship

All the players such as Prakas padukone, gopichand, now Saina, Sindhu are a force to recognize today. You are belittling their achievements!!! What a joke??

Olympics is not a measure as not many Asians have won any medal in the individual athletics events. Milkha Singh worn many medals in Asian, Commonwealth games: Gold Medal - 1958 Commonwealth Games - 400 m Gold Medal - 1958 Asian Games - 200 m and 400 m Gold Medal - 1962 Asian Games
Being in top 10 in the world is not too bad either. You can't compete with Americans or Africans because of racial factors that play an important role in Atletics. Racial make up of species plays an important role in Atlects - for example a particular type of horse run faster than other horses. Or a particular type of deer jumps than other deers. Question for every athlete is always - did we did our best as per our abilities? The answer is yes.
Competing at the highest level is not easy. You needs years of training, hard work and body pain. Modern training and coaching in the developed countries uses stride filming, weight training and nutrition changes to get that extra 0.01 secs or that 0.10 meter in the jump that defines difference between winner and losers at the highest levels.
Even wining a event merer at district level is hard. There is nothing to be ashamed of being 10th or 12th in the world. How many people can even do that? So, keep training and good luck next time or event.

Good boss. That is the spirit of Sportsmanship. Try to achieve further step in every meet. No point in loosing hopes. Person with negative attitude always is a looser, coward, lazy idiot, whiner,. To tell in Hindi "Voh Dharthi par ek bhoj hai"
Not much was expected from our 15 strong contingent,as most of the participants were sent for International exposure, and not for winning medals. Sports federation of India for the 13 years is sponsoring Gowda's USA training, but so far he has not given us even a bronze.
India sent 15 athletes in the World Championships, but none of them came up with anything noteworthy. Yet, they will all claim an award in India as Poonia is doing. It is sad that despite so much money and effort, our athletes are yet to touch the top mark except Gowda who came 7th. Perhaps our athletes are physically below par compared to the world class athletes. Considering this , they should confine to games which suit their physique and not try everything.

Even with available facilities and small funds, our athletes are doing better than our cricketers(although they get so much amount of money, they failed frequently). All problems are due to our craziness in cricket. No pain no gain.
