indian sportspersons should focus on improving their game and compete globally rather than...think of awards...this is the main reason that they are failures at the global level...their lack of commitment and focus...look at someone like mary kom...she never bothered about these awards even though she was world champion and focussed on her game only
You can't expect much from the union govt. & sports bodies as we all know these people are ruling the country worse than tughlaqs & aurangzebs of the yore did. But what has befallen on poonia?? why she is begging like a beggar for an award & judging herself as a better sportsman & criticising a fellow athlete. Judging is the work of public,I would say poonia is a second rated athlete & a third rate person...There are lots of top class better sportsmans who have achieved a lot,without creating any fuss. Cheap woman Poonia doesn't deserves an award.
Away from this issue i want to ask why cricketers are given national awards like khel ratna and arjuna. Are they playing for the country? legaly no. It has been told my mumbai high court and BCCI has also accepted the same and said they wont use our country's flag officaly. All this happened in the year 2008 itself. If this is the case then why should they be awarded with state awards?. These awards can be given to other deserving sportsmen or woman who are playing for the country.
during my school days i was the champion for sack race and hide n seek too...can anyone pls tell me what is the proper channel for addressing my grievences for neglecting in the khel ratna award... also i was first in creating goti game

In India it is possible that the selection committee may be biased, but still it doesn't mean that one should stoop so low. Krishna Poonia has not done her reputation any favour by begging for a National honour.
There are many other sports persons who too deserve this highest National honour but do we see them beggging for it?
Winning Commonwealth games gold medal is not even equal to asian gold medal. Sodhi is a world champion and what is her place at world level. Begging for awards shows what kind of self-respect this lady has.
There should be proper nominations and voting. The awards appear to be given on the whims and fancies of the politically inclined jury. I am not against Sodhi or Poonia or Girisha. Each have won in their categories and can be Arjuna awardees in respective fields. Khel Ratna awards is for the best among the best and to have importance of the winning events.
This is strange. either its poonia OR girisha. in the last minute you bring in sodhi who has not even in the selection process. @poonia - khel ratna is NOTHING compared to the fan's respect. you have lots and lots of fan's respect.i have read your news, watched you perform but frankly i did not hear about sodhi till now.
