Fedex isn't done yet

there has always been a dip in the form of great players before they again start winning as a habit... federer is no different, he is going to hit peak performance before retiring.

Significant win for Nadal.2nd ATP masters on hard courts this year and a win over Djokovic.Well known retards like NashikmarathiTurd will always talk silly stuff. But those who know their tennis would have seen a lot of positives in Nadal's approach in this tournament. He played more aggressively, attacked the net more often, stayed closer to the baseline than usual and of course most importantly his knee wasnt even taped and he was moving well. With chronic tendinitis his knee is always going to be suspect. But if he chooses his tournaments well and modifies his game a bit,he can surely do it.Nadal is always a favorite when he is fully fit.All the best champ.

Yes its a significant title win for nadal, but lets see him beating djokovic in a grand slam once again... its going to be djokovic winning hands down.. the djoko is a better player than nadal, its just not showing in the results. i'm sure he will end up with a better h2h record against nadal by the time he retires.

Montreal open
by Guest on Aug 11, 2013 01:35 PM  | Hide replies

This year has been Nadal's finest of his career. He is now a favorite to win US open. Already holding 24 master's titles is itself a great achievement and with 2 or 3 prime years of tennis left, he might end up with 30 plus master's titles.
But beating Federer's Grandslam titles is the real thing. Nadal is the only person at present capable of bettering that record and until he does better that record, he can not lay claim for the GOAT title. Now he is the third best of all-time, behind Sampras and Federer. I'm sure many will agree to Nadal being the third best of all-time.

yes no doubt. Rafa is 3rd best. But beating GOAT federer's record won't be easy. Federer shall remain GOAT forever, becoz of the records he has achieved. #1 weeks, appearances n consistency in qf,sf,f of GS n many many more. No player will ever beat those records unless they peak early n dominate for 5 yrs.

If not for injures Nadal would have remained #1 for a long time. So he can be excused for not breaking that record. I'm sure he will get to #1 by the end of the year. Nadal has a real chance of beat Federer's Grandslam titles record.

It is unfair to compare .If you look Fedderer early Majore Tournaments - there was any competition in many .It was a phase the greats have crossed peak and new faces were emerging .It became a bit more interesting only when Djokovic ,Nadal and Murray blossomed -along with a number of players who on his day can beat anyone .All the same do not take credit away from Rolls Royce Fedderer

I dont agree two of your points Mr Guest.Firstly,Nadal's best year of his career is 2010 when he won 3 slams including his 1st US Open title.Second,I dont agree to rating him behind Sampras as an all time great.Sampras never advanced beyond the semis of the French OPen and never won clay titles. To be best of all time you need to win on all surfaces.Nadal has achieved a career slam (being the youngest ever to achieve that) apart from a singles Olympic gold (which neither Sampras nor Federer achieved).Calling someone the GOAT should not only be based on numericals with regards to GS titles. If Nadal just wins French Open titles for another 5 years he will have numerically more slams than Federer. Then will you call Nadal the GOAT?I'm sure you will then crib and moan that he won disproportionate number of his titles at the French. There will never be a satisfactory answer to who is the GOAT.Because you cannot compare players of different generations. In my personal opinion Bjorn Borg is the best player of all time.I have arguments to prove my point. But of course others may disagree. So it would be better to have our own opinions and to respectfully discuss that instead of name calling and talking trash like nashikmarathiTurd.Lets have a nice debate guys.

there will be no end to this debate of GOAT. There were gr8s in every generations. So many players have somany records. Rod with 2 calender slams, had Borg not retired at 26 he could had won so much more, Connors total titles, Pete, Rafa, etc..But many online polls,tv series, former players, fans have voted Federer as GOAT for his numbers. All r gr8s.

Grand slams is the real test
by rocky on Aug 11, 2013 11:01 AM  | Hide replies

nadal is the master of masters, then federer is the real grand slam's grand master... being a grand master is more difficult and important. nadal can only create record of holder of most master's title, then being holder of most GS titles will only be federer.

what i'm saying will make sense once federer wins another GS title in the coming US open... he has the game and he will be acknowledged as the 'grand master' of tennis... 'grand master, GM' is a chess term, who has achieved more than 'IM'... i'm giving the term of 'grand master of tennis' to Federer, the holder of most grand slam titles.
