we have lot of other issues that we need to be ashamed of and rectify them before feeling bad about the ranking in football and cricket.

Why India will feel ashame for this? and by the way what Iceland is proud of? a bankrupt country where debt is 120% of their GDP, still not able to pay govt borrowings and 78,000 population in 2006, dropped to 59,000 aprox after many people sucided and flown away after lost their job. R they still proud of this stupid_ranking of a sport?

and what r u doing here? u r a technical director who is being paid here to improve their performances, and you ve enough resources (players or interest) from states like Manipur,Kerala,WB,Goa..despite of all if India ranks still dropped then u as aMoron should take responsibility and get_out from here.

when matter of individual interest, its people will decide what they want to watch or enjoy..there is nothing wrong in that..

about shame? If India needs to feel shame_then its because of corruption,poverty,infiltration,radicalism..nd so on.. so stop blabbering_get your work done for that u are getting paid for..uF00l

That is okay, but we definitely need to compete. Not only soccer whenever it comes to anything competitive at international level we suck, apart from poverty and corruption in technological aspects as well. According to me it is because we lack good technology (in infrastructure, sports, education, health etc) we lag behind in all aspects. Not only soccer - you take any competitive sports (not cricket) - we are close to bottom of the ladder. The soccer facilities here have not been upgraded from 60s.

-- and form at least 3/4 associations on all India basis. Then these associations will keep on fighting amongst themselves for supremacy - completely forgetting the basic duties (like Hockey associations).
All pittoos of Sports minister should be placed on these committees on national level & Pittoos of CMs on state level. Their aim should be to suck maximum possible funds from coffers & players (for their placements).
We must try hard to get wild card entries in international games - to send 20 players & 200 officials to the venue.
These steps will definitely fetch the results - like we are seeing now.

Let's face it. Sports are not our cup of tea. Let's rest our fat arses on chairs and do more of IT outsourcing work.

Focus on Turn Based Games
by sujit chitale on Oct 20, 2012 12:50 PM

Indians on a whole are good at turn based games like cricket, archery, shooting, chess etc.

Real time games like hockey, football, F1 Racing etc. dont really suite Indian psychie with a notable exception of boxing these days.

It is important that we realize it and try to excel in turn based games and not follow real time games just for sake of it. It is similar to any art skill, one can not really be good at all forms of art but has to specialize in one of it whether out of knowingly or due to successes achieved it does not matter.

As stupid as asking what is Indias rank in Ice hockey. Cricket is just a lazy mans game played by few English colonies. If you compare it with Football, Tennis, Basketball etc, which is played the world over, you know nothing about sports. In a game played by 8 countries where the total population of the rest 7 are less than that of India, we are still fail to reach top 4. Do we need anything else to accept that we are good for nothing?

Why blame cricket?
by wcpak on Oct 20, 2012 11:37 AM

What is wrong in doing what we like? If a guy chooses to marry his lover, his own parents disagree & that does not mean he is a rougue. It is his life & wish. So, what is wrong in watching, playing a game what we like? Nothing wrong in thinking to improve football which is no doubt a good game. But dont blame cricket for everything. It is rubbish & spineless thinking....
