Unacceptable...
by deepak kotnis on Jun 02, 2012 11:59 AM

In sport either you are good or bad. There is no 3rd fact. Whether India is good in women tennis or not is not the point. If India has a representation, it should atlest be in the Top 25 considering the size and population of India.
People say Sania is good becoz she is better than the worst of the worst. Well, that doesnt take her any way closer to the best of the best. Individually she is a below average player of Tennis. By supporting her bcoz of things other than pure Tennis, we will make ourselves a laughing commodity in the serious Tennis business.
There is no harm in being a audiance of sport, instead of sending hopeless ambassadors like Sania Mirza Malik.

Why..
by deepak kotnis on Jun 02, 2012 11:54 AM  | Hide replies

let some deserving british girl get a good chance to give it a try. why this loser sania. she will be thrown out of the 1st round there too. and her favourate media will put it as headline reading " sania crashes out of olympics 0-6 2-6 , sania looked in sublime form after losing first set pretty easily, but she fought back to take 2 games including a mighty serve of the opponent, opponent didnt have any answer in the 3rd point of the second game of the second set, little bit of more power and the Gold could have been our's"

Wild Card
by Sceptic Critic on May 31, 2012 04:31 PM  | Hide replies

Sania deserves a wild card for what?
For losing all the time, and mostly in the first round!
Only Indians are capable of talking like this.
No accomplishments by action, only loose talk!!

Again, look - this is no record to be proud of. This is a joke and other countries laugh at us. Celebrating such mediocrity! This is why no better players ever come up, cos they are done, happy at satellite tournaments, praised by people like you.

The first Indian woman to win a WTA title.

The first Indian woman to be ranked in top 30 (was ranked 27 in Aug 2007)

The first Indian woman to be seeded at a Grand Slam singles draw (not many Indian man have achieved this).

The first Indian woman to reach last 16 of a Grand Slam singles event (US Open 2005)

The first Indian woman to defeat a player ranked in top 5 (Svetlana Kuznetsova).

The first Indian woman to reach the final of a grand slam doubles event (2011 French Open)

The first Indian woman to win a grand slam mixed doubles event (Australian Open 2009)

And of course, that is good enough for our typical low Indian standards, as always. Celebrate?

How long are you going to say at least an Indian has come so far. So far to #190? Do we Indians continue to always have SUCH low standards?

People from war torn countries have won singles GSlams as teenagers and been world no.1.

And you're still gonna say 'let us appreciate this much at least'?
Shame. Ind, we will never be sports power with this mindset.
She has chosen tennis as a pro, not me.
