JERUSALEM: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, an amateur chess player and an enthusiast of the game, closely followed the 12th game of World Championships between his countryman Boris Gelfand and India's defending champion Viswanathan Anand in Moscow.
The game was broadcast on a giant screen in a room adjacent to the Prime Minister's office where Netanyahu watched it between meetings and spoke with Natan Sharansky, a former minister who was a promising chess player as a child, about the moves. and indian pm was not even aware of the world championship
Dhyan Chand, Milkha Singh & Visvanathan Anand inspired a whole nation by their deeds. They are the ones truly deserving the Bharat Ratna; one could add PT Usha & Kapil Dev also to the list.
chesss cannot be included as a sports game. he use only his brain. its like a video game . football, cricket etc its all about fitness, stamina and mental strength. any way congrats for your success

chess is a sports and india has won many gold medals in Asian games in chess.. Chess is the only game india can dominate the world. logically, cricket is not a sports... its a sluggish sports played mostly by weak and corrupt sporting nations like india, pakistan, sri-lanka, bangladesh.. thats why cricket is not included in olympics also.

Did Tendulkar remain as no1 in icc test/one day players list for a total of 5 years?? No, not at all. Did Tendulkar manage to be a great player in a game that is played by 180 countries ??? no?? atleast 1/10 th of it ie 18 countries ???? Chess is played almost all over the world and Anand is a genius to win Championship greater than Tendulkar

It shows you don't know Chess.
Anand is still playing where as who is younger than him is not in the scene itself, who started their carreer before, along & after him.
Kasporov & other westerners retired when they are in peak & don't want to lose. You have to appreciate Anand's endurance. You may be a True Indian because you are ready to appreciate a foreighner where as you belittling a GREATEST INDIAN SPORTS PERSON (Especially From TN).

Anand didnt ask Kasparov to leave chess... Kasparov lost badly to Kramnik in 2000 world championship... And, Anand beat Kramnik in the world championship... Kasparov himself once said that if Anand born in Russia he wud be better player than me.... Anand born in non-sportive nation India and still won 5 world championships! before Anand, india's position in chess was similar to we have in football today.
Viswanathan Anand has never been a cheap exhibitionist. He has never taken time out for that. He has concentrated on his chess and preparation for Olympian battles. In this egoistic, demonstrative, publicity-seeking age, he has sought only to be the best in his chosen field, no nomination to any legislature or national award or honour. He knows all that will flow from his pursuit of the highest, indisputable glory. Most remarkably in all his successes he has been at pains to highlight the achievements and contributions of his opponents. The world salutes you, ANAND.
