israel pm vs indian pm mms

JERUSALEM: Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, an amateur chess player and an enthusiast of the game, closely followed the 12th game of World Championships between his countryman Boris Gelfand and India's defending champion Viswanathan Anand in Moscow.

The game was broadcast on a giant screen in a room adjacent to the Prime Minister's office where Netanyahu watched it between meetings and spoke with Natan Sharansky, a former minister who was a promising chess player as a child, about the moves. and indian pm was not even aware of the world championship

your comparison is unfair.

the answer to your post is in your first sentence which says the israeli pm is himself an amateur chess player and enthusiast, and logically, this is why he followed the games.

I personally follow chess , but does that mean another human should be forced to see a game which does not interest him ?

the fact that he congratulated anand is enough for a bureaucrat.

oh , i was under the impression you copy-pasted this from somewhere , my apologies , did not mean to undermine your effort. nevermind really :) its a good list.

but corrections would be, humpy is not a top gm currently, and negi was not the youngest to be crowned a gm, rather it was karjakin. negi i guess was second youngest?, and the record still stands i think..

Hi Mahesh - yes, chess is for connoisseurs traditionally. But with the advent of internet chess is reaching the masses. You can still watch it online - several websites post game analysis. But generally chess is meant for taking the game after it has been played and analyzing it.

Both Anand and Tendulkar should get Bharat Ratnas I think there is competition between the 2 oldies as to who will keep playing till the age of 50 plus so both are equally deserving candidates
