Many many Congratulations, Mr.Anand. You have made us all so proud. You keep making India proud again and again, in the world arena.

We have proved to the world that Indian are world beaters in Brain works. Now, we need to do something in the Brawn works. If we remove the politicians out of the Olympic committe, India will win a few medals in Olympics too.

But what chess
by nrmgrm on May 30, 2012 09:32 PM  | Hide replies

Anand can never become as famous as Tendulkar bcoz 999 out of 1000 do not understand the game and hence can not appreciate his achievement

main credit goes to anand's mother . i believe she was an amateur chess player and instilled the love of chess in anand. later it is anand's hardwork and dedication towards the game.

Very true. She was responsible for seeding the interest, after which there were coaches in Chennai to further his cause.
Post his emergence, there has been increased interest in chess in India, however nobody has been able to match Anand. Maybe someone like Humpy down the line...

although there are other good players too from our country like harikrishna, negi, sasikiran, and players just short of a gm title like grover, who needs one norm. also players like vaibhav suri who's our most recent gm.
