Congratulations to our great chess champion. Will the government reward him now or have a procession like they have for the cricket players?Keep it up Anand. You have done our nation proud.
ppl should understand that chess like soccer is a global sport and to excel in a global sport requires supreme talent.. and one cannot equate it with a sport played by handful of nations .. sorry cricket is not even worth a mention in global sports platform anand's achievements are unparalled and he probably gets more due n respect outside india thanks to numb cricket culture

Who cares whether cricket is the global sport or not, it is surely one of the biggest money churning sport. In India others sports simply cannot match cricket be it the case of scandals or entertainment (all type) etc.
Indian physique is simply not suited for other games. They are only good for Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, both of them are pathetic games.
Indians can win in games that require mental strength, and time and again Anand has shown who is the king and for that he deserves every credit, but I do not understand why does he lives in Spain. Off lately only Badminton, boxing, shooting and archery has shown some real promise.
Hatsoff to the one of the greatest sons of the soil a grt champion a grt gentleman a youth icon in all senses. My humble salutations. Its indeed a shame that his grt achievement has invited a very few comments while useless IPL tamasha is attracting comments by the tons.Shame on us.

Raising toast for Anand is fine, but why run down Sachin's achievements? He has thrilled this nation with his incredible batting for the last 22 years. Mind it.

Personal achievments are side effects of the main goals my dear friend... just because he is delaying his retirement doesnt mean that he is still there for personal records...

and when it comes to bharat ratna, why to limit it to one... you can share the award between two of them... greatest legends of the cricket have accepted the fact that Sachin is one of the best.... also please note that cricket is a physical game when you become old you are bound to have some challanges... chess is mind game... there are challanges you need to evolve new techs so as cricket.. it also need presence of mind... u hv very less time to make right decision being a batsman... a small mistake or error in judgment you pay penalty...

Dude, you seem to have very little clue about the intensity of Chess. Firstly, excelling at the very top of ANY sport takes super human commitment. Next, just because like most INdians you are besotted with KIRKIT, dont try to portray Chess are requiring less intensity than Kirkit.
To put Vishy's achievements in perspective. He had very little by way of a support structure among contemporary Indian chess masters...there were few during his time, but the game then, and now, was dominated by the Russians and Europeans. Unlike Kirkit in which the superstars of today have had a lot to fall back on in terms of a 'craze' for kirkit, and several cricketing heroes that the country produced, and not to talk of the potential support of lucrative endorsements and the promise of a nice financial life if they make it big. Just so you know, when Sachin was a little guy, Sunil Gavaskar was already rooting for him and giving him tips about improving his game and help shaping him . That is not to say that Sunil Gavaskar tutored him but that all present day icons Dravid and company had clubs, coachs etc to shape them. Dhoni may be the exception for a guy who really made it of his own with little infrastructure n support.
Vishy made it on his own. Few games can match the intensity of his matches with Garry Kasparov. Unfortunately kirkit crazy ppl of India will never understand. Vishy flattened new jungles where few walked and make a road to walk on. Kirkit heores walked on existing roads

Vimal,
I agree with u but the opinion of public is giving Sachin on the platter . Also I feel if you do one move wrong in chess u r done. There is nothing like beaten or dropped. mentally you have to be very strong to survive
