We, the people of India, the President, PM, Cabinet Minister, all support the peerless ONE AND ONLY SACHIN TENDULKAR. There is only one game worth supporting and that is CRICKET. GIVE BHARAT RATHNA TO SACHIN TENDULKAR. JAI HIND.. What is Chess?

as an indian we should be proud, and secondly wining in 17 moves and that is in world championship match it is realy great. i as father of a chess player (daughter a Maharashtra state champion under 7), we should all support to Vishy for his remaining game and the crown should be come to Indian.
What a performance!!! Check mate in 17 moves is unheard of in professional matches let alone in a world championship match. Gelfand's bold variation payed off last time, but it is a mystery that he overlooked loss of queen in 3 moves, when GMs usually work 6-8 moves ahead.
Is this a sign that Gelfand is not a great player as he is purported to be a worthy of a challenger to Anand??

No no, after 6 cosecutive draws he felt the need to do some heroics and won the 7th game. He again tried to go by untraditional path and got trapped !

Yes, it was not a check mate on 17th move. But Gelfand's Queen got trapped and he was sure to lose it. Hence he visualised his end and accepted defeat.

yet he won game 7 ...also it wasnt a check mate it was a resignation...also though the queen was stuck anand couldnt have taken it without sacrifising his rook i think..and by moving his horse around he might have come out of it..so not sure why he resigned anyways.

you are correct either gelfy would've to give up his queen for the rook, or he could move_Nc6 , which bails out the queen, but still loses the knight and has a terrible position with anand's aggressively placed pieces attacking the kingside.

Mrs. Gelfand, please accept that your husband is the weaker player and cannot win. You dont have to dream of owning the skies.. Be realistic and accept defeat gracefully.

No Vandana. Mrs Glefand has truly played wife's role. And she has rightly said so to boost Mr Gelfand's morale.
