Age is just a number for red-hot Roger Federer
by vasantiben parmar on Apr 03, 2012 02:37 PM  | Hide replies

But age is just a number for Federer.

"Some people don't understand how you can play tennis at 30 years old which is shocking to me because normally that's still when you're young enough to play some of your best tennis," Federer said.

"I think I'm showing that since I turned 30 in August last year. That's basically when my run began.

"But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what people say."

Federer said that his biggest wish this year is to win a gold medal at the London Olympics. But he also wants to some day reclaim the world number one ranking.

"I guess that's a long, long-term goal," he said. "I said it loud and clear that it's not right now a goal for me in the short-term because I can't be world No. 1 because Novak (Djokovic) has played amazing these last 12 months.

"Just because I have been on a great run doesn't mean he hasn't.

"He might go and do another run or someone else might come up like Rafa ( Rafael Nadal) might go on his clay court run again and then all things become very difficult for me to get to world No. 1.

"So right now that's not even on top of my head. I'm just happy how well things are going, and I will try to use that momentum to win more tennis matches."

TO summarise...he knows he will never be No 1 again and NEVER be able to challenge Novak and Rafa.So he's just entertainment value at th GS, and may win a few 2 setter tourneys.Maybe he should join the womens draw.

It's foolish to argue logic with you,but going by your own warped 'logic',we also have to go back to early 2010 to remember when FedUp won a slam...does that mean he's good for nothing too?Or good only on hard courts?Anyway,I still challenge you, openly,on the Rediff boards to stand up to your own statement-'Nadal failed to come to finals on Federer dominated courts during Federer's peak'.Define 'Federer dominated courts' and 'Federer's peak' and watch me rip you apart again. It's an open challenge.

federer has past his peak years that is why he is unable to win slams but he is trying and will eventually win some. situation with nadal is different as he is 25 not 30. are your math skills that bad? actually its foolish to argue with facts. if you can't understand facts, first, second and third time what makes you think your tiny brain will get it the fourth, fifth or sixth. you have yet to give me an answer on all the facts I have posted. does that mean you agree with everything because they are facts so you have no choice. if you want to keep a blind eye to reality, then the choice is yours, you can enjoy living in your dream world. I have already answered all your challenges with facts but you have completely ignored them as usual. maybe you have a language problem or you are in the wrong forum. try your hands at "kabaddi" forum because tennis facts are not your cup of tea.

Wading through your pointless diatribe, all I could find is conjecture-'past his peak, trying, will eventually win some...'that's not facts. And as usual you still refuse to define what your mean by his 'peak years' and the broad statement 'Nadal failed to come to finals on Federer dominated courts'...So,in short-you remain a loser with no facts in your armoury, just pointless gossip.Take the challenge, define what YOU YOURSELF said, and then I will crush you again.

nadal fans can stick to the H2H but it does not matter as proven already by facts. let nadal fans live in dream world where H2H matters but in the real world, it does not matter. federer is the greatest ever. nadal fans are in denial. its okay. give them a few more years to accept reality.

Federer fans can run away from the H2H but its the only thing that matters as is well proven fact.Let FedUp fans live in their dream world where it doesnt matter.Because,Federer cant trump Nadal even in his own fans dreams. So even though they have accepted the reality and are already scaling down their lofty expectations from the over the hill primadonna, they still have some expectations from him that are bound to be crushed in the coming few more years.

if H2H only matters wat about Fede's H2H against Hewwit,Rod,Safin, etc...wat about Fede's consistent Qf,Sf,F slam appearances?...

Go check up Fede H2H against Hewitt,Safin etc...not very impressive. And they were nowhere in the league of Rafa and Nole. That explains how he scooped up lots of slams earlier, and then folded up when Rafa came along. Now with Nole there,he might as well retire.

You repeated the 'milk bottle' joke thrice and its still not funny. You are afraid,I know that.Afraid to try back up your own statements, because you know you have no legs to stand upon and will be brought crashing down.Cmon, once again I challenge you.Define what you meant by 'Federer's peak'.What time frame you were talking about. And what you meant by 'Nadal failed to come to finals on Federer dominated courts during Federer's peak'.Define what you yourself said. You cant deny you said it because then I will show you where you did.Come on.Be a man and prove you're not the one who needs the milk bottle.

nadal fails yet again
by HUSSAIN MITHANI on Apr 02, 2012 09:08 AM  | Hide replies

Its been forever since nadal won anything other than clay. You have to go back to 2010. He is only good on clay. All the answers for nadal success lies on clay whether its the grandslams, master titles, or H2H meetings with federer. Nadal will miraculously recover for clay season. He always does. Clay is his where nadal is comfortable. I am just stating facts.

Rediff's self appointed tennis expert and guru,Hussain Mithani, has beat such a hasty retreat once I challenged him to back up his claims. His silence is deafening. He is the prototype of FedUp fans on Rediff....all bluff. But I appreciate that even for his low IQ,he was never abusive.
