It would take some real effort for a podium finish, and the coach has said that we don't have any realisitc chances. so, don't hold your breath for a medal in hockey.
Asking India to win the hockey worldcup is akin to asking the WI to win the cricket world cup. They have it in them to be the best, but the changes of them winning is fairly dismal. Both live in past glory.

It's Olympics and not the Hockey World Cup dude..... The last Hockey World Cup was held in India in 2010, a little before the Commonwealth games and the next one is going to be held in 2014 in Hague, The Netherlands.
What a genius Michael Nobbs is! His statement "scoring field goals will be the key to the team's fortune" is unknown to our so-called best Indian hockey players!! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. Basically he assured that the Indian team will be losers.

I'm certain and confident that people like you will certainly and only do that, since I'm sure that India will not have a podium finish in reality in this Olympics. Dreamers like you are all around.

India has A fair chance for podium finish with a little bit of luck..we have penalty corner specilist, good goalkeeper, fit forwards and a not so bad defence..the only problem is surface which will suit the european style of hockey..

Hoping for a top 6 finish, which itself looks improbable. Being optimisic is somethind and being realistic is another.
