National Team
by Haramohan Roy on Jun 22, 2012 11:01 AM  | Hide replies

A player has to abide by the decision of the selectors. This is the most basic principle of a national team. By not doing so, Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna have practically set a revolt. Worse, the AITA came under pressure and selected two national teams!!! Why not select one single team with the two best players?

What was AITA doing when the duo split last Nov???? Coudn't they have stepped up then and told them clearly to play as a team until olympics?

Dont blame players when AITA is at its fault.

by abc_xyz abc_xyz on Jun 22, 2012 11:01 AM

Those sitting in glassed house shoudn't throw stones on others' house.

IOC doesn't deserve to even comment on professionalim. They have f**ked Indian hockey already ...They mismanaged Commonwealth games. They are the biggest culprits we have.

Next would we see two Indian cricket teams if some cricketers refuse to play with some others? Still better, would we see two cabinets if some politicians refuse to work with some others? AITA has done a most shameful thing!

cricket is not the same as tennis. PEople are drawing unnecessary parallels. Seems reasonable to people obsessed with cricket.

It is a very bad precedent indeed, sad for our sports. Time shall tell. After the olympic, both these players shall be charged, to go against national, policies.

Indian Hockey !!??
by Prabhakar KRISHNA on Jun 22, 2012 10:01 AM

IOA was the one which destroyed Indian Hockey single handedly as they would not approve the Team selected by Indian hockey federation( IHF) and for years ( in fact for all Olympics after 1974) there was bitter bickering and politics. with the result that players got divided in two camps and there was no unity in the team. If there is an example of how a National Game gets destroyed by petty politics than IOA is the bunring example of that in the context of Hockey. Now they are questioning AITA ???????

Sports Associations - Heriditary?
by R SRINIVASAN on Jun 22, 2012 09:55 AM

Its time we reintroduce the Sports Bill.

its should rid the Associations of:
(1) Heriditary holdings like Mr Anil Khanna, President AITA got thy reins fro his Father!
(2) IOA itself needs re vamping as the Associations elect the IOA members! So you dont expect them not to castigate the Associations!
(3) No wonder we dont translate into medals!
(4) All sports associations at some time or other (even BCCI asks for tax exemption) is supported by Govt funding and so cant be called AUTONOMOUS!
(5) As these associations represent NATIONAL TEAM they cant claim to be AUTONOMOUS!

Hence IOA supporting AITA is NO SURPRISE!!
Specific Questions that arise are abou AITA are:
(1) Perinial Paes Playing in record 5th Olympics!!!
Why Indian Youngsters cant be given a chance? Why AITA had NOT selected 2 pairs in the first place?
(2) Pair that got no prize to be repeated again and again?
(3) Why promise mixed doubles to Paes -sania rather than Hesh -sania which is a proven and recent in form pair?
(4) Was the single doubles pair created to pocket the money ($6000 per day)?
