Not a bad day
by Vimalesh singh on Jul 31, 2012 11:22 AM  | Hide replies

I would only rate their loss to their nervous start. I think it all happened coz of inexperience....secondly when they leveled the score they could have just step up instead of going for ball possession.
But overall Indian Team have to improve a lot on attacking front...I think Dutch have done really well by not giving Indian team any leeway in Penalty Corners. This is a headache for Indian Team coz their most potent weapon Sandeep didn't get a chance to have a shoot at the goal!!

But they can cover up the loss during the slog overs. Most potent weapon is Dhoni and not Sandeep as you claim.

typical regionalist fellow. don't know why mostly people from south try to project their regions so much.

1. all hindi movies are remakes of some kannada movie which no one has heard of.
2. bangalore is best city even if it has the most p0tholes out of any city in india
3. so and so sportperson or film star if from mangalore or bangalore or hyderabad or vijaywada.

C'mon, this is India, learn to flow together with other Indians.
Tell me, if we start counting each and every achiever's region of origin, even haryana or punjab or bengal or gujarat can start boasting abt it. for eg. gujjus can boast Ambani richest man is from our Gujarat, some bengali will say national anthem was written by a bengali.

high time you all stopped this nonsense and start thinking abt India. by the way, 18 of the 81 athletes including narang and nehwal are from haryana. there was an ad in today's newspaper. don't approve of this but wanted to bring it to your light anyways.

note i am from india not from haryana or bangalore or some such place.

Hockey - Biased umpiring
by xavier v on Jul 31, 2012 09:34 AM  | Hide replies

It was biased umpiring. In the last minute you can clearly see in the 'D" the Netherlands player got hit in the leg, after appealing, umpire, refer to the 3rd umpire, then also the penalty corner not given It was a biased umpiring. Earlier also when in our 'D' it was not hit in the leg of our Player, umpire has give P.C. After objection by our player, then refer to the 3rd umpire, the decision was rejected. It was clearly a biased umpiring by the Euorpean umpires.

Don't know why we have to blame the umpires now! The truth is that a blad workman blames his tools and we're doing exactly that. Did you notice how the Dutch scored their last goal via a penalty corner? - that was indeed a class act! Can we our hockey team reach anywhere close to that? - I have serious doubts!

If you had really seen y'day match, you wouldn't be saying this. Netherlands were by far the better team, and they controlled the game right from the word GO. India did have its moments, but it was a Netherlands' game. No wonder they are one of the hot favourites, along with Australia and Germany to win GOLD this time. For India, I am at least happy we lost by a goal difference and not more. But I still believe this team has improved a lot and has it in them to finish in TOP 6, which would be a wonderful achivement for this 10th ranked team.

Bhupathi Bopanna is having a match against weaker opponent in the second round compared to the gruelling fight they had undergone against Miriyani and_Bury in the first round.

Paes_Vardhan will be fighting it out against French duo of Llorda_and_Tsonga.

Jayanta,Rahul and Tarundeep will be appearing in 1/32 of archery individual,if they win, they will have to play 1/16.I just hope that our archers will not blame weather again like how Dhoni blames the pitch if India loses.Weather will be same for all the archers with same wind speed and olympic committee will not perhaps fix some special cyclonic wind for our archers .By the way,Sumit Sangwan had to face the music of unfriendly_wind when he was deprived of a much deserved win in his boxing bout.

There is Swuro ,the lowest ranked female archer in the fray as well in 1/32 round, and hopefully 1/16 as well !

No much hope, but in 69 kg group B ,Ravi kumar will be lifting weight.

Jwala_Diju will play in an inconsequential badminton mixed doubles group match against Korean opponents. They already lost the 2 matches played earlier, and it will be just a formality to take part in the ultimate one.

Kashyap has an easy match against Nguyen_T of Vietnam and he is sure to move to next round.

Our rowers are mystery elements for us.They are trying their best.In double skull,Indian pair will be fighting in repechages_round for a place in quarter finals. In single skulls,Sawarn_Singh will row his boat in quarter finals.

Devendro_Singh and Manoj_Kumar will be boxing and it is hoped that they will get fair decision to move forward to next round.

Two most beautiful Indian women in the squad ,Jwala_and_Ashwini will play their last group match in women’s badminton. They are in a good position after beating the top seeded Chinese_Taipei pair of the group yesterday and is almost certain to reach quarter finals round.

Garima_Chaudhury will take part in 69 kg Judo 1/32 round just for fun. With the level of competition,I donot think she can win a medal.Any how,we should not be miser in our wishes for her as she may move upto few rounds and so let us hope for the best.

We NATIONAL DEMOCRATS have a totally different view of sports
by Vishnu Sharma on Jul 31, 2012 09:21 AM  | Hide replies

We believe that India with a population of a billion plus people should be a TOP SPORTING nation.

We want to be a NATION of strong athletic people not awkward geeks who spend their lives typing away in front of a computer.

We want to raise the level of sports to an unprecedented level in the country and encourage participation in every sport that is featured in the Olympics and we want men and women to seriously devote their whole lives to sports.

We want INDIAN MEN and WOMEN to be strong and keen in sports all the time and pass this trait to the children they bear.

A nation which does well in sports and whose athletes bring glory to it, cannot ask for anything more.

We want Indian participation in almost every Olympic sport to double and we want sponsors to come forward and sponsor every kind of sport.

Cricket can take a back seat for a while.

It is more important to win at the Olympics or in Soccer where more nations participate.

Excellence is sports is a measure of a nation's strength and health.

We NATIONAL DEMOCRATS want more muscle and brawn and teamwork to be the outstanding characteristic of the average Indian man..

Let excellence in sports be the highest ideal henceforth.

Re: Netherland score 2 out of 3 goals through the referee
by Rajib Chakraborty on Jul 31, 2012 09:23 AM
It seems that you are not aware about the rules of hockey. No goals were controversial.

Although sad for us, India was outclassed. The margin of defeat could be much more if it was not for some brilliant saves by Chetri, India's goalkeeper. Our players keep the ball for too much time before passing. We depend too much on dribbling which does not pay dividends as eventually the ball is snatched by the opponent. Fast passing is the order of the day.

Anyway, it was a good game but it is very difficult against the class of Netherlands, Australia, Germany, etc.
