How can India prepare for the 2024 games?
by Nikhil Shah on Jul 28, 2012 03:02 AM

n order for India to prepare for the 2024 Olympics games and not for the 2020 games (since it is already too late) we need 10-12 years of advance planning, preparation, know-how and investment. The process starts with the Indian goverment's plan for the mid-day meals for its 120 million school. India has a labor force of 500 million and about 400 million school going children between the ages of 7-14 years.

India needs to raise the budget for its 400 million children mid-day meals from the current $2.00 per meal. There should also be a 100% coverage. Whether they join the armed forces, the labor industry or sports: a high nutrition diet is a must for of its school children and the mid-day meals in 80% of India high schools should be given a higher priority. Attendance and quality of learning will also improve along with physical health.

Once the diet is taken care of, every school going child should go through a standard fitness test to determine the level of fitness and improve on that. All PT instructors in schools should be aware of this need before the kids graduate into college.

A national website should be launched and kicked off for all high school PT instructors to be aware of the need for physical education and test fitness levels fo all school children who need to achieve and parents should be informed about this to improve on the child's well being and fitness with proper feedback.

Success in sports will be achieved by taking a multi-disciplnary appro

Dissappointing way of news
by vinod shenbaga on Jul 27, 2012 11:17 PM

Deepika Kumari didnt dissappointed . Its the people who diassppointed. Indians dont have right to have huge expectations from Indians players bcoz they have neither watched those sports nor did they supported these sports or sportsman monetarily or physically. Even Politicians and Adminstrators are the ones who dissappointed. Deepika has come 8th among 64 players. What more do u want on first attempt. Let her get set, as she is already world no 1 archer, she can use her skills and comeback in recognition . Instead of encouraging her, such discouraging Titles are very uncalled for. Shameless act !

good job
by Sanjay Bhadra on Jul 27, 2012 11:04 PM

comparatively Indian women has done a great job, as we can see few developed country like Bitain and Italy is also behind India. Though we have a long way to go, but its definately a nice job at this moment. we should motivate the players instead of hailing them.
