Friends, why are we so worried about tax-payer's money (our money) at the time of Olympics when these hardworking sportsmen (read NON-Cricketers) who are confined to bad facilities and pay throughout their career are trying to make a mark -- for some of them winning a medal at the Olympics will ensure that they have a decent livelihood or sporting career (unlike our IPL cricketers who become millionaires no matter what). Our tax-payers money is being looted day in and day out by corrupt politicians and bureaucrats at each and every level, everything inside out in our country in corrupted -- so its not a surprise that official to athlete ratio in the games...I wish all of the hardworking sportsmen all the best..Jai Hind ! :)

Your ratio calculation is wrong.It should be 1 player is to 0.6 official.
It is less.For such a small contingent,it should be 1: 1 as there are only 1 or 2 atheletes per discipline.There are individual coaches,trainers,physio_therapist,etc.Apart from them,some officials are needed to co-ordinate and look after the requirement of the players,venues,schedules,etc.
We just want medals but we are not ready to provide any support.Out of 51 atleast 40 will be coaches and support staffs.I donot think there is more than 4-5 useless people which is unavoidable and happens to each country.
construing for 1.60 participants, there is 1 official to the cost of the exchequer????????!!!!! This is utter squandering of taxpayers' money and s'd n't be allowed at all.

Indo-China beyond compare keeping the dragan's rich medal haul in olympic in, olympic out. They say :1st deserve then desire!!! I wonder what would be the size of indian officials the day ( hope that wouldn't be another frosty friday!!)the country will reach where china stands today?????

Even coaches are called officials..... so you can leave a sizable chunk and then each federation will send their representatives. But there are always piggy back rides for few chamchas and chamchis......

the problem is people just want to criticise thats all..without officials how do do you coordinate and manager the events..the atheletics / sportspersons should be free from all from all formalities, they should concentrate on their events only..

Boss every country has same even USA... if any player need some help then sportsman will not go and find the thing... start thinking in positive way.... donot say any thing without knowing...papa mummy always go with children for school and exam it donesnot mean they have to study or give exam... be realisitic.. if need some thing then spend too...
