When I was in University, I saw players being picked to go all over India to play. I remember fifty percent of the players were just picked up because of sheer influence so they could travel all over India. I was too young to raise a voice then. Our national character is very poor. Look at China, dominating sports. Wait till China jumps into Cricket. India will have to go back to Gilli Dunda.

what wrong with gilli danda. it is interesting game it by any chance you know what the rules are. because it is indian you as indian will look down at it. how cricket, soccer ot tennis are better? gilli danda given some posh name and played in big stadium is far interesting then baseball, cricket, tennis etc.
Cricket is at the forefront because we have very few world champs in our country in other sports. If we could produce a few gold medal winners in athletics, tennis, shooting and boxing the interest may shift drammatically.
If Indian football gets FIFA rank within 50, then also people will see football more.
Also,if India continue losing to Australia,England and New Zealand the interest in cricket is bound to dwindle. Just tell me how many cricket lovers will enjoy Australians scoring triple centuries and then bundling out India cheaply?
With all this overdose of cricket the BCCI should take the blame for the injuries ,its about time for Sharad Pawar to run away from cricket and get back into politics adn current BCCI set up too indeaquate to run , reinstate a knowledgable cricket as the president and ensure they dont kill the golden goose i.e the cricket public of India
To be a good sportsperson needs a good character first. A country's character and how strong a country really is known by how good it is in sports. India's poor performance in sports is very clear.

Recently when we lost in England there were so many excuses. Now no excuses and it is really a very poor show. Some of the senior players went to Australia well ahead to the tour to prepare for the tour and seems that they enjoyed their "holidays" without any practice. Really feel ashamed.
