be professionalized.

Bradman has a ton tons in FC matches
(a 100 100s)
Pointing has over 20000 FC runs..

Before coming to fore, they are groomed, for experience.

(Not to mention, the "blaster" took full 85 matches to get on that First ton!

Playin' against teams like Zimbabwe, Holland, UAE, Kenya, Bangladesh, erstwhile sub continental countries, over the span, is no bigger deal than playin' First Class cricket in Australia!)

Point is
At least 3 to 4 years of Exp. should be necessary to turn a pro for a decade or 2 boy.

Groom sports culture

What one would like to see in sports is more young people coming out and playing all kinds of sports, athletics, tennis, volleyball, football, gymnastics, cricket, badminton, etc., etc. They should not just spend all their time cramming books in order to become a doctor or an engineer. Sports help in developing a healthy body and also mind. Parents who discourage from children are bad parents.

Statistics are always wrong in Rediff.. Not a good quality... Dhoni hit the six in 48.2 over... Here you have mentioned 43rd over.. not a good sign..

the really problem with Indian Sport
by brian colaco on Jan 03, 2012 04:22 PM

this are the reason why Indian Sports never got its due:

1) Wrong people holding post of all sports governing bodies accros the country, do we see any sports person in these organisation be football, hocket etc etc???

all sport governing body should have a min of 65% sports personals associated with that individual sport and the rest could be from management.

2) Poor sports culture : as any parent what they would like there kids to be once they grow up and all u will get is Dr, Engineer, pilot etc never do u hear they say a sports person. our entired education system is created in such a way that the only way 2 reach the top is better grades.

What we need is for parents to incourage their kids into sports unless that is done school will never change their system. " catch them young and watch them grow"

Respect our sports heros:

yes India won the cricket world cup n the whole nation went mental and crores of money went to all the players; can we expect the same when other sports achive the same result??? jst look at the way our sports person are treated in this country...unless we change our attitude and start respecting our sports heros beside "cricket" we will never reach to the top...

India to become on par with world should start playing other games too.Anyway India is good at cricket but they can also improve in other sports. Also china like country is doing good in olympics. We should match chinese abilities.Like abhinav bindra winning gold.Cricket is not played by developed nations like U.S,germany, japan etc.India should become a developed country by winning olympic medals.Remember olymics is a global event

did cricket or any cricketer insisted that you watch cricket? it is really upseeting that whenever any game fail to pull crowd the blame is passed on to cricket. Let people decide what they want to watch. Cricket has not stopped you from supporting other games neither it stopped govt from funding other games. Other games should learn from cricket controlling bodies how they are managing and more importantly marketing it.

the failure of india in sports is not failure of sports. its the failure of india and indians. power sports like football, tennis have far more crowd across the world. cricket is a sluggish sports played mostly by slave and weak nations like india, pakistan, bangladesh, sri-lanka.

Its u ve slave mentality not in other way..if cricket is a sluggish sports..then play for one hr or 5overs cont.? its like u are asking in Brazil why allmost all follows football? its matter of interest..noone asks u to watch or follow cricket if u r not interested.. but by telling something which is not true is absolutely rubbish..who said tennis has more follower..? Please tell me a single country where Tennis is the no.1 sports or even no.02? Football is only global sport ..if u count number of people follows..then cricket will come second..believe it or not..

cricket is sluggish sports... only indians or pakistanis will not accept this truth. bcoz they dont understand power sports like football.. and Tennis is most popular outdoor sports after football.. played in more than 130 countries...

Did u ans my qu? Answer is BIG NO. Cause u don't know the answer. Here, Im repeating the qu. tell me a country where Tennis is the no.01 sport? Secondly, Cricket is the second sport on planet which has highest followers after Football.. Prove me wrong..if u can..

Who r u, Indian,Pakistani or a real slave..polishing whitePeople... Go check Google, wikipedia or anywhere else..u will find what Im talking.. If tennis is playing in 130 countries then in similar way cricket too.. cause in ICC, 102 countries ve registered as members..incl WI (where as WI is consists of 15 independent countries..who ve registered independently in Olympics nd FIFA body).

cricket is "actively" played in less than a dozen countries.. that too most of them are india and its neighbours.. regarding, 102 official nations doesnt count any thing... 100 people playing a game doesnt count... thats why its still have no place in olympics! cricket is mostly watched only in india, pakistan, bangladesh, sri lanka.. all these nations are non-sportive nation...

lets start playing olumpic games and football.
by bihari babu on Jan 03, 2012 11:58 AM  | Hide replies

Cricket makes me sick. its like drug. whole india just sit and watch the drama and get lezy.
why not promote olumpic games and football which can be played by more and more indian easily. also these 2 sports are international. means you get respected world wide. cricket is hardly played by 5% of the world nation. we have to throw away this drug called cricket otherwise it will eat away our stamina to play any healthy game on international level. look at chinees how strong they are. because they play 100s of olumpic game. US plays most of the games too.
why should we waste so much time on cricket?

Based on your ridiculous argument the strongest people in the world should be from US as they win the maximum medals from the track and field events in olympics. But 2 out of 3 US citizens are obese. Cricket developed because the BCCI is better than the other lousy sports federations in India. I find no reason why we should stop supporting cricket. The other federations are begging from BCCI.

power sports like football, tennis requires far more stamina, flexibility and speed than cricket whether u accept or not. and if india is not good in sports then its the failure of india and indians not the sport. at present, india is a non-sportive nation.

US,China, Australia, Canada are leading sports nation along with Germany and England.. And talking abt stamina, flexibility and speed..did u ever stand one hr and facing bolwers randomly or did u bowl5ovrs cont?if no then try then understand how a batsman hours and hours, bowlers bowling whole day to get him out..nobody stopped u to follow other sports..u r saying like why in Brazil everyone is interested in football?

play football once in ur life and u will understand why cricket is a sluggish sports.. or read this: after every ball in cricket there is a small break. after every over there is a big break.. after every out there is a very big break... this is how cricket goes.. not spontaneous and energetic like football.. only 2 batsmen come for batting rest all resting for hours! most of the fielders wait for ball to come on their side for so long.. fielders doing no activity during no ball, wide ball etc.. :)

no need..We Indian played hockey and great Dhanchand era gave 8 gold medals..and if u compare football with hockey..u need similar stamina one is using legs other one using hand..and if we go by ur logic..what football goal keeper does? what a defense player does all the time..the way u are saying..it looks like every sec all 11 players run one corner to another..;)

Did u ever face one over 140KM per hour? Let me see if u can face alone without faint once..forget 150..lol

140 km / hr ball speed is too slow to be fainted... do u have any idea abt the speed of football?? regarding football goalkeeper... in football goal is main target.. like wicket in cricket.. only diff is wicket is too small compared to goal! it seems u have not even seen football matches!

Yes football speed is 200 km/h..;) check ice hockey, u will forget football speed.. 140 km/h is too slow? Ohh is it? Let me see if u just throw a cricket ball one end to other end of the wkt, if u reach 130 km/h then I will tk back my all argument..lol
