the problem is that the compensation was not adequate. but why sports should take the hit? They are still doing business in India. Take over Dow Chemicals factory and nationalize it.

the victims have been compensated more than enough, by Indian standards
I would suggest that India should boycott the Olympics to show our protest against the Olympic Committee. Anyway, we are not going to put up a good show! So, boycott will help in at least three ways: 1. When a country like India (being the world's largest democracy, one of the largest country in size as well as population, etc. and also the importance of our country in many respects) boycotts Olympics, it will send a strong message. 2. Since we are not expected to perform well, non-participation will save our honour too! :-) 3. It will save us millions of dollars, the expense of sending a large contingent (not only athletes and players, but also the big 'accompaniments'), without nothing much to gain.

Funny.
Better still, send a contingent to participate in only those games/events where we can hope for a bronze (forget gold and silver). The athletes should participate with a dark badge on their shirts.

Well, this does not apply only to this particular event but even Asian Games also I believe (SAF games should not even be held I believe ... sorry). But let everyone participate using their own or may be private sponsors' money and then reimburse only ones which are in top 5. Also, no coaches and/or trainers should be sent. Lot of money will be saved.
We should participate and win dozens of medals, and as protest of IOC rejecting our demand to scrap the Dow Chemicals as one of the sponsors should refuse to accept those medals.
