any victory for the hockey team should be applauded, even though if its against a lowly france..not so long ago, we were thrashed by the same score against the ruthless aus. olympic opponents wont be easy like france or poland...we should carry forward the same atatcking instinct for the entire 70 mins of play..thats the key..

I agree VD, besides, it is not so lowly because after a while we are qualifying for the olympics. The team is playing nice hockey , has skills and pace in the attack.

taklu: these skills, pace and guile that we r discussing about will be put to real test when we play teams like australia, netherlands, germany, spain, england etc..... Remember in ranking even the pakis r ahead of us.

Sure, we all know that, but that doesn't mean we don't encourage or support our team.
BTW, the field is wider in hockey than in cricket i.e. in cricket great teams are very few, in hockey this field is wider,...even if we dont win an olympic medal and have a decent finish that'd be great

we were inconsistent after nobbs took over..we beat pak, lose to malaysia, lose to aus very badly..may be nobbs team is settling down now..hope we win gold..
watched the game. we decimated france. they did a lot of body tackling and were completely outclassed and outwitted. hockey is india's national game and we needed this win to create a renaissance for the game in the country. hockey should be elevated to cult status. millions should take to it and we will soon rule the world. money and glory should be bestowed on the players who have always got a raw deal from the authorities and the media too.
