Let us not hype too much with these success against minows. most of the people who commetn here do not even follow hockey and they think countires like Singapore, Italy are good competiors. Do you guys read too much if India defeats ZIM or BAN in cricket ??? Same applies here.
1.Firstly they should win this qualifiers and qualify for the 2012 olympics. 2. Currently ranked 10th, India should aim to finish at 6th or 7th in this yr olypics, whihc itself is a good achivement. At the current form, we can't even think of defeating the top 3 - Australia, Germnay, Netherlands. But by putting a good fight to the second rung nations like Spain, Pakistan, S Korea, England, S Africa, we can achive a 6th position finish.
3. Aim for GOLD in 2014 Asian games. India is as good or as bad as Pak, S Kora and much better than China, Malaysia. So a Gold is a strong possibility and gets an automatic berth in 2016 olympics.
4. At 2016 olympics, with proper planning and less politcs, we can manage a podium finish. GOLD may not possbile, but a BRONZE medal is good enough.
Hope that this excellent performance continues and India not only qualifies for the Olympics but brings back the Hockey Gold and Glory to our national game. Best of luck to the Indian hockey team.

this is a qualifier;; Italy and Singapore are like Chinese team of cricket; we Indians hype them for smaller success and that goes into the brain of the player and they start thinking that they are something
