Sahara moved away from Indian cricket because of BCCI's attitude. Also, given the Indian team's current performance, one can't really blame them. Probably Sahara will come back to Indian cricket one day if BCCI is managed by sensible people with good negotiation skills. At the end of the day, Sahara is a leading corporation and will do what is in its best interest. Indian cricket has got tremendous support from Sahara. It is unfortunate BCCI refused to acknowledge that and jeopardized the relationship. It is more honorable to be associated with the national team (not currently, though) than with some IPL team, which may not exist after 3 or 5 years. Sahara understands that well enough. They were upset because they weren't treated well by BCCI, in spite of the support they provided the team. It wants to remain in touch with Indian team sports, so they picked hockey. There are few team sports Indian does well on an international platform. We only talk about cricket all the time. Maybe Sahara's move will help other team sports to grow in India.
The controversy started with IPL then why they are stopping to sponsor Indian team? they should stop the IPL team - right;
However now see the business; Cricket is always sold in India; with Sahara Indian team has always being promoted with the brand; now Sahara have their own team to promote their brand; they can have access to many of the players nationally and internationally to carry on their campaign; so why they now need Indian team?
